It's great to hear that Captain Brodie enjoyed her birthday party with all the fun and games on Loch Nell. Stramash parties are a brilliant way to burn off energy with no party mess for mum to clear up afterwards! Races, welly boots filled with water and a soaking for the instructor - we hope Brodie's 8th birthday was filled with lots of fun and laughter and one she'll always remember.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012

I booked an afternoon canoeing activity for my partner and I and we had a wonderful time. We were complete novices but thanks to an excellent instructor we managed to pick up the basics and we had a great time. The Stramash staff were extremely helpful and knowledgable, from the moment I booked through to the day itself. I would thoroughly recommend Stramash to anyone - we had a great time!

Thank you for your lovely comments, we're delighted that you enjoyed your time with Stramash! Nothing is ever as difficult as it seems and our instructors take great care to ensure everyone's needs and abilities are catered for. It's great that you enjoyed the session and have gone away with a new skill - we hope you both take this forward and develop your canoeing further.

“Brilliant day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2012

We booked an activity day with sea kayaking and gorge walk, and really enjoyed it. Stramash staff were very helpful in arranging the booking, and our guide for the day was very friendly and knowledgeable but also made us feel safe and well looked after. Cannot recommend highly enough! Great value and lots of fun.

“Gorge Walking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

Afternoon gorge walking activity - Well organised with extensive range of equipment available. Another small group arrived later than the specified time due to their lengthy travel, but the guide after checking with the party, ensured the full time was allocated for the activity. Very professional and enthusiastic guide giving safety briefings and instruction throughout the activity.Thoroughly enjoyable and would recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to review your activity with us. We're delighted that you enjoyed the gorge walk, appreciating all the additional information and instruction that supports the activity itself.

We are not always able to extend Adventure Day sessions, mindful that other clients may have further activities or travel plans already in place. Thankfully, extending the session worked well for everyone on this occasion and allowed you and your daughter to enjoy the whole activity.

“Gorge Walking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2012

Not really sure what it was, our family of 4 (2 adults, one of whom is somewhat nervous, and 2 kids, aged 11 and 9) booked into this Gorge Walking at the recommendation of the representative at Stramash. Everything was done via email and it was very professional.
We arrived at our designated time and had a 5 minutes meeting/orientation with the instructor in a very professional conference room in their facilities just a few minutes from downtown Oban. We then tried on/put on wetsuits, life jackets, helmets, etc. Then a 20 minute bus/van ride with 8 other people to the Gorge. Our guide offered to keep our camera and medication in a dry bag during the activity, which was so much appreciated.
We all did a last safety check and went down to the Gorge. These are a bunch of rocks/boulders which are in the middle of a mountain/hill, through which natural water is flowing. We started off by going under a log, which let you get acclimated to the water, but your head was out of the water the whole time (as was the case the whole activity, if you so desired).
It was our first time in wetsuits and we were apprehensive about staying warm in that water. However, our guide was very helpful in explaining how it worked, and by George, he was right. As soon as you got over the initial shock of the cool water, the wetsuit worked perfectly. After the log, we climbed up, over, through and in a number of successively higher rocks, etc., until we reach the top walking path. In different areas, one of the guides would show us optional activities, such as jumping into the water (cannonball), or going through a small waterfall, or climbing through a small little "Shrek-like" house. It was totally amazing!!!
At different points throughout the walk, our guide would make sure everyone was comfortable temperature-wise, and there was always a guide in front and back making sure everyone was ok. At one point we were allowed to squeeze through a small(ish) tunnel and one of the guides let us stand on his shoulders to push ourselves through. It was seriously exhilarating for this skittish Mom!! We could have gone on for 2 more hours, but we had reached the end and it was time to go home....time flew by while we were walking the Gorge!!
There was even a smaller child (maybe 6) on the walk and he had no problems at all.
I am not sure where else in the world we would be able to do this activity, but I will recommend this to everyone who ever expresses an interest in visiting Scotland.
The people on the activity with us were very nice and we were able to share stories of other places in Scotland we visited and other activities we experienced. At the end of the day, we all agreed this was one of the highlights of our trip!
After we walked back to the heated van/bus, we drove back to the center and changed and left feeling like we had conquered the world!!
Well Done, Stramash. Can't wait to visit again (from America) and do Coasteering or Canyoneering!

Thank you for your lovely comments, we're delighted that the gorge walk was one of your holiday highlights. Getting into the wet suit and surviving the big intake of breath as you step into the water is a challenge in itself - after that, it's fun all the way!

Sharing the experience with other holiday makers is all part of the fun and being able to do 'challenges by choice' as you go along means everyone's needs are catered for and no-one feels they hold the group back in any way. It's great to see visitors chatting and laughing as they arrive back at the office having had a great time, with those nerves and fears conquered!

Canyoning will be a great progression for you - wherever you are in the world - it's similar to a gorge walk but with bigger jumps and challenges including abseils. Exhilarating, amazing and unforgettable, it will give you a great adrenalin rush! We look forward to welcoming your family back to Stramash the next time you're in Scotland.
