Used this as a base to travel in area. Friendly and helpfull staff, clean comfortable room with plenty of hot water. Had a meal in the Creel which was excellent, far above the standard of normal "Pub Grub". The Chef obviously took pride in preparation and presentation. Location is very good
Hotel could do with a lick of paint externally and an upgrade of windows but this did not in any way detract from from overall experience

Room Tip: ask for room on second floor. First floor could be noisy from bar downstairs on a busy night

After attending a funeral in Oban, I went to the Creel for bar meal. The menu is typically a bar menu with some nice seafood options. As it was a very wet and cold day I ordered the steak pie. Wow, what a pleasant surprise, probably the best steak pie that I have had, ever. A large portion of great food. Thank you staff too for being kind and happy.

If you want great food with no fuss and very very well priced then this is a great place to try.

This hotel is looking quite old. The room seemd to have undergone some building works which were not yet finished. Or should it have been some damage by water? The bed was ok and the room was clean, but the overall impression was not pleasant. The window did not stay opened and some glass in the window was broken and hardly repaired.

The staff was nice, especially the lady caring for breakfast and the hotel. Furthermore the price was a great deal and you are some steps from both the harbour, the station and the town centre.

I have stayed in the hotel many times and have never had any mayor problems. The only issue we had was the code for the door we were told when we asked that the code was in our room. it was not in the room and when we asked at the bar again she was not best pleased that we were asking for the code again. she did after the yhird time asking write it down for us. apart from that i would not stay anywhere else. would say to anyone its a nice place to stay for a couple of nights.

I booked this hotel after seeing pictures of the rooms on the internet. The rooms do indeed look quite pleasant, though I had to swallow twice when I first saw the exterior of the building; it looks like an old run down pub. We were given a spacious room on the second floor. The first thing we noticed was that the window wouldn’t open. Fortunately the bathroom window did open, though it required a block placed underneath to stay open. The beds seem quite old and mine had some sort of beam stuck in it crossways to support the mattress. Not a pleasant way to sleep. The disco music from the pub in the evening didn’t help either. Finally, the shower is so minimal you cannot even turn around in it, and it gets especially tight while you are trying to extricate yourself from the shower cabin.
In the morning we were leaving on the ferry to Barra and since breakfast only opened at 7 we had a very rushed meal before dashing off to the ferry terminal. The dark pub room is not the nicest of places to start the morning.

Basic rooms here, but food surprisingly good, Beer is certainly well kept and atmosphere in the bar was good. Only street parking or paying car park in immediate vicinity, so need to get tickets early to avoid fine! Nearest free parking is quite a treck, especially if weather is wet. However, the town centre location is a bonus.

Room Tip: lower rooms can be noisy if disco running downstairs

I wouldn't say this is a hotel - in fact it is classed as an inn (2 star) by the Scottish Tourist Board. It is a pub with rooms. On the plus side, the food - breakfast and evening meals (served in the bar) - is excellent. I would say the rooms are very basic and despite being refurbished need a bit more work. We had an issue with the cleaning of our room, finding clothing belonging to a previous occupant in ours. Loud music (I assume from the bar below) kept us awake. The reception and entrance give the place a rather gloomy feel. I'm afraid we wouldn't stay here again.
