We were really looking forward to some Indian food while in Oban and decided to try the Light of India. Thre decor is stodgy and dated but we'd have overlooked that oif the food was good. There were too many waiters and they seemed as old fashioned as the restaurant. The worst part was the food though...it was so oily as to render the food virtually inedible....you could drain it from the dish. The flavors weren't developed so it seemed like they had seasoning packets that they just added to the protein and no care was taken to make a rich, flavorful dish. Hot was just hot without any savory-ness. We wouldn't return.

Think of 1970's Scotland and going down to your local Indian (well Bangladesh really as most were). Same decor, same great food and great value for money. OK you can tell some of this food is high calorie (lots of Ghee) but the taste was fantastic and we had a decent bottle of South African wine for a reasonable price. Great friendly service too...what more can you ask for....go for a cycle first ....then it's guilt free....

loved the food, found the number of waiters a bit intimidating!! However would rush back if in the area.
