The best holliday cottage we`ve ever stayed, peacefull surroundings, but amazing view at the wild sea! Cozy bedrooms, clean, warm, nice ambient. Good starting point for walks around the island. Hoping to come back.
Abolsutely fantastic place! The cottage is amazing and very spacious with plenty of land if you have kids. We enjoyed it that much we paid for an extra night. Will definitely be returning
Four of us, two adults and two children, stayed in Atlantic Bay for two nights in October 2016.
The best thing about the house, for me at least, are the sea views, which are phenomenal. The floor-to-ceiling windows afford uninterrupted views of the Firth of Lorne and Atlantic Ocean beyond, a seascape that's doted with small rocky islands including Belnahua, Fladda, Eilean Dubh Mhor and Scalasaig.
The house is warm, dry and well-equipped. The main living area and main bedroom are both very spacious and decorated with wildlife photographs taken by the owners, who live nearby.
We were lucky enough to see an otter swimming just offshore, and on the shore immediately in front of the house, on both the mornings we were there.
We, five of us, stayed over the New Year and were amazed by the place - so much space and light. It never felt crowded, there was lots of space for all our outdoor gear on the porch, even when they were wet. The living room with its floor to ceiling windows kept us captivated with ever changing colours over the sea and light. Perfect for wild life spotting, walks from the door step, other walks around the island are not far away either. The kitchen was well equipped with nice cutlery and crockery, plenty of pots and pans (my husband is a keen cook and gave his approval too!), we had a bit of problems with the hob as were not always able to work the tempereratures but hey ho..we managed. We'd highly recommend this for anyone who likes oeace&quiet in a glorious setting!
Sit and watch otters fishing in the bay, or golden eagles soaring overhead. Take the ferry across to Easdale for a walk round the island and a coffee and a spot of lunch. Visit Oban, a fine town for shopping (yes, and a spot of lunch).
Sit at the dining table and take in the view across the sea to the islands - never to be forgotten.
A week passes too quickly here.
The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable.
We can't wait to visit again.
Our second stay at this beautiful location. Different times of year and equally delightful. The location is out of this world, so peaceful and a far cry from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It truly is a place where you can unwind and enjoy life.
The cottage has everything you need for true self catering, with the complimentary toiletries & wine an added luxury. For those that do not want to self cater, there are places to eat on the island, and many more in nearby Oban. The cottage is very light and airy, with unusually large rooms and comfortable furniture. The whole place is kept immaculately clean and the beds are very comfortable too.
The view from the lounge picture windows is stunning with several of the islands to be seen, and ever changing scenery with the changes in light and weather. The master bedroom also has lovely picture windows from which you can watch the activity on the Atlantic Ocean as boats come and go from Easdale and Seil Sound, and the Calmac ferry going south from Oban in the distance. The massive garden is a delight with enough space for children to play whilst the adults relax on the patio. It is also ideal for eating outside, or just a drink in the evening watching the sun go down. The access to the beach at the bottom of the garden is easy, and here you can sit and listen to the sea. If you are lucky you may even catch sight of the Otters, apart from the many birds that frequent the garden & shoreline.
The owners David & Jean live in the detached house next door, and following a friendly welcome are there if you need anything during your stay. They also run the Sealife Adventures from a base on the island where you can go on a boat trip to explore the local wildlife. This is an opportunity not to be missed as David is a very knowledgable guide, and unlike most other boat trips you are not crammed in like sardines! There is a wealth of shoreline to explore within walking distance of the cottage, and further afield in the car. A trip to Oban affords access to the CalMac ferry terminal and numerous opportunities for island hopping to access more of the stunning Scottish scenery.
We have stayed in many self catering cottages and this is truly the best in all aspects! We look forward to our next visit, the only difficulty being what time of year to choose next!
It felt like we woke up in a dream surrounded by the ocean. A house is very comfortable. Very! Actually, everything one might think of and even more. We were very pleased with complimentary bottle of wine and toiletries. The only regret we have is that we should have stayed for longer!
Tips for future lucky guests. There is a small fairy park just 5 minutes walk towards Ellenabeich. And there is a nice hike in Easdale island.
