“A great Scottish living museum that shows how it should be done!”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

Loved the 'actors' who all had their own stories about the characters they played. A few of the 'models' are looking a little tired. I also loved how they brought the stories of the former inmates to life and the horrors of the punishments they faced!

“Interesting and interactive!”
Reviewed April 2, 2013 via mobile

We went with a 4 and a 7 year old and all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had a leaflet for free entry for a child with a paying adult so was great value for us. There were lots of things for the kids to do ie. testing out a hammock in one of the cells, dressing up etc. (don't want to give too much away!). Spent a good couple of hours here and with younger kids we felt that was pretty good. I felt there was enough information without being bombarded with reams and reams of writing and it definitely helped that a lot of it was in pictorial form or in the form of an interactive exhibit. Go and discover for yourself!

“Nice to get out of the wind !!!”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

Most of the jail was closed due to the weather so we didn't get to see very much, but it's well laid out in the original jail.
