“Excellent short stay break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2010

On arrival we were met with friendly and helpful staff which continued throughout our stay. Room was very comfortable and quiet . Being on a Gluten free diet restaurant staff were exceedingly helpful in providing gluten free bread and a dessert made especially for me. After being on this diet for more than 20 years I can honestly say that this hotel is the first that I have ever received such helpful attention. Spa treatment is definitely recommended and the swimming pool/hot tub was enjoyed by both of us. Good choices for breakfast and only criticism was evening menu bit expensive with limitations on choice for the a la carte.

Set in a stunning location the Hotel is generally very good. A bit more attention to detail by some of the staff would make it excellent. Food is much better than previous visits. Bedrooms still need a lick of paint aned it would nice to have the overflow carpark surfaced. The Spa again was without a doubt the highlight of our stay- wonderful in every way and on par with the likes of Gleneagles.

Just back from a lovely break. This is our second time here and this was definitely a big improvement on last year. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room spacious and clean and the facilities are excellent. Sitting in the hot tub outside, overlooking a misty Loch Fyne was really relaxing. The biggest improvement though was the food. There is a new head chef and he has made such a difference. We had the set menu both nights and really enjoyed it. Breakfast is excellent too with local produce. If you are looking for a relaxing break this will fit the bill perfectly with plenty to see and do in the vicinity.

There is obviosly a major improvement push going on at this hotel at the moment. Most of the staff were helpfull but there is still a lot of room for improvement. We were upgraded on arrival as our first room was not acceptable for various reasons, just lack of attention to detail really but should not have happened. Our upgraded room was fine but a clock would have helped, also the taps in the bath were very loose and caused problems when trying to shower instead of bathe. Maintenance really should be ongoing.
Not enough staff in the bar area, although the young man who was there did his best. Our first evening meal was not good, I think they had been overwhelmed by the number of late bookers due to air travel problems but that is really not the customers fault. Breakfasts are good. Our second evening meal was good, perhaps better not to stick to the set menu and opt for the a la carte. New managing staff are really pleasant, full credit to them. Pool is fine, no problems there. Basically a nice hotel in a good setting.
Furnishings are very good for a hotel of this rating and most,if not all of the staff are good.
Music in the public areas needs to be updated, MOR from the seveties just isnt on any more. We would go back.

My wife and I last visited the Loch Fyne Hotel around 3 years ago when we both enjoyed our stay.
We returned for a two day stay on 21 April and again had an enjoyable break.
The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. A few did not have English as their first language but there were absolutely no communication problems.
The food was exceptionally good and plentiful. We had our first main meal in the restaurant which boasted of it's use of fresh Scottish produce and our second main meal in the lounge. Both meals were well cooked, presented, served promply and delicious.
The choice of breakfast was extensive and again well cooked and presented.
Our room (208 on the first floor) was to the rear of the hotel overlooking the overflow car park and close to the kitchen but despite this we were never disturbed by any form of noise.
The room its self was a good size, clean, warm and comfortable.
Great value for money.

my husband and I stayed here over easter for a much needed 2 nt getaway. heres the good stuff: lovely location, good spa facilities, outdoor tub, relaxing, nice breakfast

now the bad: limited set meal choice and quality not great, no atmosphere at dinner, light music would be nice rather than screaming children, my husband booked a £30 half hour massage and was charged £35 and the therapist was not very welcoming when we went in to say the least, as though she couldnt be bothered. He also said it was a poor massage. Also, I do not understand why the hotel does not have a set period in the pool and spa for adults only? Maybe from 4-6 or 2 hours in the morning. On our 2nd day we were having a swim and in comes the big family with 5 kids who take over the area, no regard for anyone else, the father sneezes in the pool around 20 times and the next day my husband catches a cold!! This hotel really needs to have a set adults only session for those without kids.

If these problems were sorted I would have given the hotel 4 stars.

enjoyed the pool facilities very much my kids had a blast. but unfortunately our visit was ruined by the service we recieved! the waiter seemed like he did not want to be there and the time it took for the starters to be cleared was far to long. i work in a hotel and if any of the staff had left customers for that long they would be sacked. steak sandwich your having a laugh im still wondering if the steak got lost before being put in the sandwich as i only got two measly pieces that would'nt satisfy a mouse! all i can say is that i'm glad i was only visiting for the day as i would of left if i had been a resident! poor loch fyne you really need to big up your game if this is how you run your establishement?
