Stayed here in mid June. The road works certainly didn't help and the weather was dreadful! I'm sure the view from the front of the hotel is great, but when it rains.......
Rooms were a little small with those annoying low wattage 'reading ' lamps that are a waste of space. Bathroom OK , but use it early as there isn't always sufficient hot water.
Breakfast good, albeit with small portions -I didn't ask for the baked beans but wondered if you'd get more than one!
Table d'hote dinner (a good deal if you don't intend eating out) was fine, good food, but a limited choice (one veggy, one fish and one meat only) Service varied from very good to 'we're abit short tonight' Staff were, in general, competent and friendly. A good bar/lounge area overlooking the loch, for drinks or after dinner coffee.
value for money? I guess you're paying for the view and easy access to the town -with the road works and weather we missed out on that -so difficult to answer. If we went back to the area I think I would give it a second chance.

Thank you for your comments.

The road works in the next two weeks will be finished, we will then be left with a fantastic new road / promenade that will be a lot nicer to walk down, and safer as the old road had a very bad surface.

New menus will be in place at the same time and we will look in the lights in the room to improve the reading.

Please contact me personally before your next stay as I would like to welcome you back to the new Inveraray.

Thank you again,

Being a regular visitor to the Loch Fyne 3rd trip in 11 months we
have previously found the hotel to be of exellent quality and good
value for money but something has gone sadly wrong. On the
first night we ate from the al a carte it took 1 hour from starters
until the first course arrived and then one plate had to be
returned to the the kitchen to be cooked properly (pink duck is
great raw duck not so) this resulted in my wife and myself
eatind separately as by the time her meal arrived back I had
just about finished. Breakfast was not the usuall standard we
have received at the hotel nor was the Table De Hote . Why have
a menu that rotates every three days resulting in customers like
ourselves who stay for seven days being presented with pork
cutlet three times and surely there are other veg besides
carrots and sugar snap peas. Will stay at the hotel again but unless changes are made will be eating out.

PS moved on to Loch Fynes sister hotel the Oban Bay what a difference same menu but rotates every five days, using the same ingredients they achieve a much higher standard and
different veg every day!

Thank you for taking the time to write your comments on trip advisor.

I will speak to the chef today in regard to your comments as the wait for food, and the Duck not being cook correctly is unacceptable.

As for the menus we take on board your points, with new menus coming out any day now, these issues should all be addressed.

Please do not hesitate to contact myself at the hotel, or email me if you would like to discuss this matter further, or if I can give you my personnal reassurance that all the points have been address before your next stay.

Kind regards,

We were booked into this hotel as part of a tour group so the choice wasn't ours. We had pre-booked an upgrade on the standard room but when we entered the room it was far from our expectations. The room only had one small dormer window (which overlooked the kitchen, waste bins and rear car park) and three small table lamps for the lighting, these had low wattage bulbs and the room therefore was dark and gloomly. Our complaints to the duty manager did result in the bulbs of two lamps being replaced which brought some improvement. There are still no telephone instructions or room folders. The housekeeping left a lot to be desired, the room felt and looked dirty with a settee that was to grubby to even think about sitting on. It took two nights to get tissues into the bathroom even though we had left the cover off to draw attention to the empty container. On two mornings we found the previous days cold tea still in the pot, beds were not made they just pulled the duvet back over the bottom sheet without straightening it, the bottom sheet reamined untucked for the duration of our stay.
The restaurant staff worked in the evening (we never tried breakfast) but the room needs a make-over to create any atmosphere. Everywhere looks and feels like it has been designed by a man!

Thanks you for your comments.

I am sorry to hear of the issues that you had with the housekeeping department.

I will speak to the Head Housekeeper this morning to find out what has happened, ensure that retraining is carried out with the girls cleaning those rooms.

We do have a few new starters in the housekeeping department at the moment training, I will see if this is one of the problems and ensure there rooms are being checked better.

I can assure you this is not the standards that we accept at the hotel, and this will be dealt with immediately.

Thank you again,

We have just returned from a weekend in the Loch Fyne Hotel, where we were attending our friends wedding, which took place in the hotel. The setting is fantastic overlooking Loch Fyne, though the road works mentioned before are still taking place though a sign now directs you into the rear of the hotel car park. The room was clean and tidy though the bathrooms could do with a repaint. Swimming pool and out door hot tub were just what we needed after a 7 hour journey. We didnt eat in the hotel that night but walked to the George in the village centre excellent food and great entertainment. Breakfast was very disorganised. They seemed to have lots of staff but we were kept standing for several minutes waiting to be seating even though the room was nearly empty we also had to ask several times for milk and toast.

The Wedding and reception was just what everyone wanted and all the staff where very helpful and ensured this was a day to remember for all the best reasons.

Breakfast next morning was again not up to scratch, food cold, wrong orders and long waits. It wasnt the finish to the weekend we wanted but i would recommend this hotel and hope they sort the breakfasts out.

There is little positive to say about this place - several things wrong. For this sort of price, one expects a lot better. The loch view/access is obscured by unsightly roadworks, and you have to pass through the distincly unpleasant council housing behind the hotel to get into the car park, whether on foot or in your car. The furnishings were rickety and mismatched, the bathroom cramped, with grimy corners and makeshift fittings, and a smell of sewage comng from the sink. The bed, it has to be said, was very comfortable. The Spa/Jacuzzi, etc, which we were very much looking forward to for our special weekend, was out of service, and had been so for several days prior to our arrival due to "unforseen circumstances". Upon further questioning, this turned out to be due to the staff, who are "like family" to the management, being unavailable due to " personal matters". There was no mention on their website when we checked only two days earlier that the spa was shut. I understand from previous reviews that this is not an isolated occurence.

I guess these things aren't always avoidable, but professionalism demands that you either partially refund the money that people have spent in good faith coming to your "hotel and spa" or let them know there will be no spa as soon as you can on your website.

Breakfast was reasonable, with a nice venison sausage and haggis on the menu. Portions tiny, not buffet.

Thank you for taking the time to forward your comments on to Trip Advisor.

Unfortunatly the road outside the hotel is being resurfaced by Argyll & Bute. We have no control over these works, but we are constantly giving feedback to the contractors to try and help our guests. These works will be completed in the next few weeks.

As for your comments of "The furnishings were rickety and mismatched, the bathroom cramped, with grimy corners and makeshift fittings."

The hotel was refurbish a couple of years ago and I have never seen or read any comments in regard to the furnishings. If you would like to call me or write to the hotel and give us the room you stayed in, we would be more than willing to investigate these commnets further.

We do pride ourselves on our good family service, however this service is alway professional. Unformtunatly the lady who runs the spa had put her back out helping a guest a few day before, as soon as we found out this was posted on our website and we phoned all the customers that had booked. This is the first time in 6 months of myself being in charge at the Loch Fyne Hotel, that this has been done.

We take all customer comments very seriously and anyone giving constructive comments before, during or after there stay we always look to see how we can accomadate any issues or challanges that they have had.

If you would like to call me or write we your details I would be more than willing to discuss that matter further.

Thanks again for your comments, I will be sharing all of the challanges that you had with the team, ensuring we look at how we can prevent any issues happening again in the future.

Yours Sincerely,

The Hotel is in the most beautiful setting overlooking the loch, the staff were welcoming and attentive, the ambience of the reception area with its tartan carpet and furnishings set the scene for the stay, the room was comfortable, and the food excellent. Well worth a visit whilst touring the lochs, the town of Inveraray is a short walk away with much to visit of interest.

We stayed 3 nights at the Loch Fyne Hotel overlooking Lock Fyne in Inveraray. The hotel was excellent, great service and facilities and very good value for money. The views from the bar/restaurant are amazing. The food was excellent and the staff are very friendly. The rather portly general manager was especially helpful welcoming.
We would highly recommend the hotel.
