“Amazing location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

We stayed a long weekend at this gem of a hotel in a stunning location. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was outstanding. My partner and I stayed with my parents and we were lucky enough to have one room with a loch view and the other although a car park view had a super king size bed.
Only downside to the hotel is that the bedrooms need a major refurbishment as they look tired and dated but spotlessly clean.
It was bitterly cold but the bedrooms were lovely and warm, public areas slightly cool but a real fire burns in reception.
The spa is small but clean and has spectacular views of the loch and mountains.
We will definitely return and as my partner proposed, hopefully for our first wedding anniversary!

We stayed here overnight in march and enjoyed the stay. The room was a bit tired looking in terms of decor, but the meal in the restaurant and the breakfast were both very nice and made up for it to an extent. We didnt use the spa/leisure facilities available. The hotel is just a short walk from the main centre of inveraray but it was absolutely freezing so we didnt walk along the front. We went to the george pub for our lunch and it was very nice too.

My husband stays here fairly regularly but this is the first time I've been here. I had lunch in the bar on the day we arrived....steak sandwich, served with potato wedges and salad.....and it was delicious. Breakfast was also lovely both mornings, especially the Eggs Florentine! We had dinner the second night and it was fabulous!! A tiny appetiser of trout mousse, a choice of two starters (I had fishcake, husband had goat's cheese, both fab), a demi-tasse of lovely soup, a choice of three main courses (I had cod, just fabulous and a huge portion! husband had pheasant, just delicious he said) then a choice of two desserts (I had baked cheesecake, lovely and husband had crumble, again delicious) and a tiny oatcake with Dunsyre Blue cheese and a wee grape!! Such a wonderful dinner, lovely staff, even tho' they were very busy.
My only tiny gripe would be that the bedrooms don't quite live up to the rest of the hotel. We were in the new part and I felt the room was a bit small, the single beds a bit short and hard and the whole feeling was that it could do with a make-over. The easy chair in the room I found uncomfortable, but the chair at the dressing-table was better. Perhaps I'm just hard to please, but I don't think so.
The bathroom is good with a great shower, lovely toiletries, very clean.

My wife and I had stayed at the Loch Fyne Spa a few years ago and enjoyed our stay, although we were slightly disappointed with the meals - not so on our return visit! We booked a two night stay including breakfast and evening meal through Easy Breaks and it was superb value.
The room (321) was warm, clean and comfortable. The leisure facilities are very good - pool, sauna, steam room, jaccuzzi and outdoor hot tub. The lounge has nice views out over the loch and has a decent selection of local (bottled) beers as well as the usual array of drinks.
We found a distinct improvement in the standard of food in the restaurant compared to our previous stay. Our deal included a six course taster menu and everything we had was excellent - the taster of parsnip and ginger soup was absolutely delicious! Despite being very busy the service was also excellent. Staff throughout the hotel were helpful and friendly. Definitely worth a return visit.

Just back from our two night stay in Inveraray at the Loch Fyne Hotel. Good place to stay and good value for money on the DBB 2 night package. I must just say that I found the previous reviewer's children very well behaved in the dining room and don't know what other people expect from small people away from home, but we didn't find them intrusive at all!
Back to the hotel : situated a few minutes walk from the main part of town with stunning views across the Loch to the mountains beyond. Nice spacious room (albeit overlooking the car park and not the loch) Wi-Fi on tap, great leisure facilities with pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Didn't venture out to the hot tub but it looked OK.
Food on the taster menu was very tasty but not over-plentiful but I guess that is the nature of a taster menu. Breakfasts were good, staff were polite and attentive and the only complaint we can come up with is that the shower tap was a bit difficult to manipulate (room 212).
Would certainly go back there again if we were in the area and especially if the off-season deals were on offer.

Classic Britain £88 DBB deal for 2adults, 2children.
Well let me start by saying that I have waited to go to this hotel for a very long time; passed it a lot on the way to Oban for other breaks and couldn't wait when we finally booked it! It was nice... But I was left disappointed; I don't know if my expectations were too high or...i don't know! It is on the higher scale (price & star rating; on the website that we book through for our "sunday night saver" deals - which we do every 5-7weeks throughout the winter months) so was expecting it to be top notch compared to some 3 star reviewed hotels we have visited in past few months.
I cannot fault leisure facilities, pool, sauna, jacuzzi & hot tub lovely, changing rooms clean, provided towels clean & soft.
Dinner was ok. 6course taster menu was provided on the DBB rate. A slither of Smoked duck with cranberry jus served on a teaspoon was nice, choosen starter of onion tarte ta tan, a cup of mushroom soup which was quite bland, a chosen main or rump of lamb consisted of 3slithers of lamb on a potato cake (was nice...but small!) and a chosen dessert of cranberry & choc tarte was lovely! Hubby got the trout for main& was lovely and more eating in it than the meat options as I was still starving after dinner!! The waiter offered lots of choices for the kids which was good! As some other hotels don't bother!! Restaurant was very busy as hotel fully booked and was quite noisy (I personally was not bothered by this as was glad that the background noise was droning out the chatter from our two toddlers, however a couple who were sitting nearbys asked to move as our children were being noisy...I'd like to point out that we do not allow our kids to run around/shout/be noisy at our own dinner table let alone at a hotel so I dont think they were particularly being noisy and we had comments from other nearby tables at how well they had behaved <they were the only children staying at the hotel this night> this incident of course was not the hotels fault and of personal preference of the said couple)
The main downside was the room, cramped, very small, terrible outlook & roasting hot, no proper security on door, and decor a bit dated. Having two toddlers we are grounded in the room from around half 9ish to settle them for bed but of all the hotels we have stayed in this is the 1st that we have found very claustrophobic! For a start we were supposed to have a family room but were only given a double room (cramped at the best of times) but had a double sofa bed and a travel cot in it so pretty tight! Don't know who was at fault of the room muck up; classic Britain or hotel itself bit could not be offered a bigger room ad hotel at capacity.
View from bar & pool was lovely; just a pity we never experienced it from room. Reception areas nice enough but think rooms could do with an upgrade. Staff friendly enough as well. Drink prices on the dear side (£14 for 2 Bulmer ciders & 1 coke bottle for example) Breakfast was good, service bit slow but good!
An ok stay but would not return in a hurry. But a good deal through our usual chosen website especially considering dinner itself should have cost us £66!!
Make what you want of it and you'll enjoy yourself!!!

Lovely restaurant with excellent food and great service
