“Where do I start - brilliant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

I will keep it simple, receptionist courteous, efficient and quick, great, room upgraded to a junior suite, amazing, lovely views, great bath, great room full of character, the lagavulin room, comfy settee, dining room staff courteous, efficient and full of personality, food amazing, all in all a brilliant stay, this was our second visit to this hotel and it has to be said it was a million times better than the first vist a few years ago, we will now come back here without hesitation, finally, swimming pool was great but changing rooms were basic, other than that loved our stay here, brilliant.

Room Tip: If possible try and get a junior suite room is just lovely

Great views
Hotels great location
Standard rooms are. ...very standard but sufficient. However we upgraded to junior suite... more spacious. With two double beds, a sofa chair, flat screen tv and a massive bathroom. The shower was very powerful. .perfect! The view however is only a side loch view. This was room 301.

Spa treatments...not worth the time. Wasnt great as treatment was meant for 30 mins but they only done for 20 then left.
The rooms were separate from the pool. So u will need to walk past the reception where everyone can see u in your swimming costume before u pick up the towel at the reception.
Theres a pool..sauna. .steam room and a hot tub outside but there were not signs indicating this therefore we did not see it till I looked outside my room windows in the morning and noticed this.
Wouldnt call the place a spa but the place was very clean.

A good choice of foods for afternoon tea at the bar area. Service was fab and fast!
Ordered a panini..it was nice. And ordered homemade scone. Very disappointed as they microwaved it to heat it up. Big mistake. Was sure if it was homemade either.

Food at dinner 8/10
Service great although all foreign staff. Maybe nice to have locals
Oysters not as big as I hoped for. Ordered 10 and they were all small.
Langoustines were not fresh. Could taste the meat was floury.
But apart from that...it was an enjoyable meal.
Ooh forgot to mention the mussels. It was fabulous. Really enjoyed this one. The mussels were huge! And really fresh.

A nice walk to the village attractions. The jail is worth a visit. Had a lot of fun!
The castle isnt open till march so couldnt go in. But the land was worth a drive through.

Overall..very enjoyable place and def the best hotel at loch fyne with location, views and comfort

I had booked the one night couple retreat package as a surprise for my girlfriend's birthday. This included dinner, bed & breakfast and a 30 min spa treatment each. We stayed during the week and value for money was excellent.

We arrived early and we were given a lovely room facing onto the garden and a side view of the loch. The room was of good standard. The leisure facilities are great, lovely pool looking directly onto the loch.

Dinner was a 6 course menu which was nice but nothing too special. It was really only 3 courses. Breakfast was excellent help yourself selection to fruit, juice, cereal etc and order a hot breakfast from the menu.

Spa treatments were really good and relaxing. Nice spa/relaxation area.

Overall I would recommend staying here especially the deal we got.

We stayed here as two couples on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and we were all very impressed with the hotel. The food is of a high quality and the staff were very polite and attentive. The best thing for us was the value for money this hotel offers. We all commented that we have stayed in 5 star hotels and paid a lot more and received a lot less in return! The spa was lovely and the outdoor hot tub a definite bonus. Although the hotel was reasonably busy it still offered a good level of relaxation and the restaurant had a great atmosphere in the evening, without there being too much hustle and bustle. The rooms were nicely decorated, spacious and clean. We never felt the need to buy from the a la carte menu as the 6 course taster menu was excellent and with a good variety of dishes. We were pleased to have wi-fi available and felt this was very much needed in any hotel. The surrounding area is stunning and the walks up to Dun na Cuiche and around Inverary forest were fantastic. If we lacked anything over the weekend it would be decaf coffee sachets in the rooms and a shower cap would also be good but apart from these tiny little gripes there was nothing to complain about, something which rarely happens these days I fear!

Where it's situated is just amazing, the foods decent, booze doesn't cost the earth and all the staff are friendly enough. Would hardly call the facilities 'A SPA' however everything is in clean, good working order. Had no real gripes, and if I'm picking it didn't have that individual feel.

Before we had arrived and after making a complete mix up with my booking, I telephoned the Hotel and the problem was fixed in a matter of minutes. So, firstly a big big thank you to the hotel receptionist, Lorraine, who was more than patient with me, amended the booking and confirmed that everything was in order. A gold star for going "the extra mile". All of the staff are very pleasant, helpful and very well focused with the job in hand - well done. The hotel boasts the most beautiful and stunning outlook. On a sunny day, thank goodness, it was a little bit of heaven and a pleasure to look out on. Our room was spacious, clean and the facilities were as you would expect. However the general fabric of the room was just that wee bit tired looking. The paintwork and windows need attending to but overall not so bad. We were unable to shower as the pipes made the most horrendous noise when the shower was turned on. Quite scary in fact. This was the only real "could do better" comment we could make. Definitely a returner because of the welcoming staff and very well presented food.

Room Tip: The rooms with a view will make you want to stay forever
