The Castle tour was amazing! One look into the Armoury Hall and you feel very safe - very dramatic room! It is just a fantastic tour. What a wonderful surprise when I checked my items at the gift shop and had the wonderful experience of being waited upon and greeted by the Duke of Argyll himself!!! He signed my guidbook as well as my small bottle of scotch! The gardens were beautiful, and it was just the perfect sunny day! Plan on coming back to Scotland in two years and making that trip again. The tea and fruit scones were probably the best on our whole holiday. This was just one small trip on our two week stay in Scotland.

I visited the castle with my very elderly parents. Inveraray is a splendid place that has been much improved upon by the present Duke and his family. The rooms are nicely set out with a sufficiency of information without being overloaded.
However, more importantly to me these days, was the exceptional staff. Everyone was friendly and courteous and couldn't do enough to make our visit a good one. There was help to provide a wheelchair for my mother, an invitation to bring the car to the castle front door for my parents convenience, assistance with directions and help moving mum in the chair down the ramp. Full marks. Keep up the good work. Argyll needs you!!

The rooms are beautifully decorated and the center hall is very striking. We had a tasty snack in the cafe where we saw the handsome Duke! A lovely place to visit, especially on a nice day.

However, its a shame there are no tours to bring the history of the family and building to life.

Had a very nice trip here on a rather rainy day and loved it. The castle itself has been beautifully restored and the rooms are immaculate and tasteful. Lots of interesting pieces i.e. letters from Rob Roy, death execution warrants etc which make it really special. It would have been nice to have had a guide handy to ask more questions, but information is given for each item. I especially like that the past lives with the present and that it is still a home of sorts, there are wedding and family photographs scattered around and the present Duke can be seen wandering about and getting his sleeves rolled up! Had tea and cake in the cafe - delicious. We went for a walk around the gardens and through the woods and would imagine that on a sunny day it would be wonderful. Happy to recommend.
