this hotel is in a very good location with most rooms having a good loch view. it can be said that the hotel is a little shabby . our room was of good size with all the usual facilities. the breakfast was of a high standard with a very good level of service overall i would say that the Argyll hotel provides good value for money if you pay around the £60 mark .

Room Tip: ask for second floor with loch view

Stayed here with my husband while I was on business in Lochgilphead which is half an hour away. Was pleased we were able to park next to the hotel at no charge. Weren't so pleased with our welcome though - there seemed to be a young trainee on with the receptionist and he was anxious to please but his senior was more interested in her computer than the guests. He tried his best but wasn't sure where rooms were etc and had to ask her each time. The only time she spoke to us directly was to say that breakfast would be served in the restaurant but dinner was to be taken on the lounge bar which we weren't too bothered about. The room was up a very steep flight of stairs and we struggled with our bags - no offer of help came at all. The room was the usual old fashioned hotel rooms that you tend to get with this chain but it was perfectly adequate with a huge bathroom although it only had a shower. Reasonable view of the road to Oban out of the window. Traffic didn't disturb us at all. We went down to the lounge bar as directed where we were met by a friendly, helpful young girl who gaeve us the bar meals and the specials menu. I said I was confused as we were DBB. She apologised and went to check, returning to say we could have a £25 allowance. I asked why we weren't having the table d'hote menu and she said it was only available in the restaurant. I said we'd been told we couldn't eat in the restaurant. She then came back to say we could have the table d'hote menu after all so we chose from the menu which was reasonable. THEN she came to say there was now a table in the restaurant and could we go through!! We said we'd rather stay where we were, thank you and it seemed an awful muddle! To the hotel's credit, we were then given a complimentary drink for the hassle. Then there was a fire alarm which was due to an electrical fault but of course we had to adhere to evacuation procedures and head out into the rain. Sleep quality of bed was good as was breakfast. The hotel has an excellent location but we would definitely hesitate to return due to the service.

Unfortunately because we are a listed building we are unable to make the changes that would enable us to install a lift. Our staff are trained to offer assistance when needed throughout the hotel, I am unclear as to what happened on this particular occasion and offer my apologies. Should you wish to discuss it further you can contact me directly at the hotel.

The place could do with a bit of TLC. In the morning my wife and I discovered the shower to only be running cold water, not that good, so I phoned reception they sent somebody up promptly enough, however they were unable to remedy the problem, so on departure I said to the receptionist and suggested that this be taken into account when settling the bill, she quite stoicly and flatly refused to even consider this request. I am a local to the area and hate to talk badly about local businesses but shall never be returning here again for a pint or a nights stay.

For a last minute overnight stay the Argyll Hotel was ok. The breakfast in the morning was great and nice to see haggis on the morning fry up.
The decor is well worn but the worst was the bed. It was like sleeping on lumpy concrete. Have now come home for a decent sleep!!

Finding the right mattress to suit everybody can be difficult I agree but our policy is that a standard mattress giving adequate support is supplied in all bedrooms. I apologise for your lack of sleep that night but amreassured that haggis is still a welcome addition to the morning fry up.

An overnight stay on route to our holiday on Islay and a disappointing experience. The hotel is a little tired but we were most disappointed with the quality of the room we were first checked into. With damp on the walls and curtains we were prepared to put up with this for one night, but after seeing the electric shower duck taped to the shower wall we asked to change rooms. The first response from the receptionist was that there is nothing wrong with the shower, but I was not satisfied and we were moved to the room next door. This had a working shower, but still tired with damp on the curtains and walls. We shall not be returning.

On investigation it seems that you were inadvertently allocated a room currently undergoing maintenance. For this I apologise and I would hope that you would give us a chance to show to you our high levels of service and cleanliness should you choose to visit us again.

We were on holiday in Inverary and popped into the Argyll Hotel for our evening meal. Yes the hotel does look tired and in need of decorating but the food was very good. We both had the salmon which was nicely presented and very tasty. Bar staff were friendly and gave us a good welcome. Don't be put off by the decor if you want good pub food then it's worth a visit.

We stayed overnight at the Argyll. The location was picturesque and the outside of the hotel welcoming. The reception/entrance area is small and I agree has tired decor but the receptionist was helpful and friendly.
When climbing the 2 steep fights of stairs (there is no lift) I became concerned at the lack of cleanliness. The room itself was adequate but the insides of drawers and cupboards were unclean. The breakfast room is bright and the staff efficient. Breakfast itself offered plenty of choice but I can only imagine we caught the chef on a 'bad day'. The food was replenished as we arrived but the bacon was dry/hard, potatoe scones soggy and haggis cold.

Room Tip: Upper floor has lovely views. Must ask for a loch view!

Thank you for posting your comments on Trip Advisor. I was concerned to hear of your problems with Breakfast and general cleanliness of the hotel. It is not something we usually hear of very often , we will make sure that your comments are passed to both our Kitchen and Housekeeping Depts. Thank you once again for posting your comments, I apologise that your stay was a little dissapointing and I hope that you will return to the Argyll in the future.
