Warm welcome from the gentleman at the gatehouse and informative and patient guide who managed to keep our 3 year old son interested throughout the tour. It was quite a quick tour through a few rooms only and more expensive than similar properties such as Scone Palace or Hopetoun House. Nice looking dining room and a good play park for kids mean that you can spent a good few hours here if you have the weather. Well worth visiting if you are having a holiday in the area.

Whist staying at Knockendarroch House, Pitlochry we decided to visit Glamis Castle. On arrival we were met by a very pleasant gentleman at the ticket office. Explaining my mobility problems I asked if they had a mobility scooter available? He replied that they did not but told us that my wife could tour the castle whilst I could watch a film of it in the visitor centre. So we bought the appropriate tickets and we continued to the car park where I read the leaflet he had just given us. The leaflet stated that a mobility scooter was available for the disabled, so we enquired at the gift shop and was delighted to get one. After my wife's tour of the castle it was time for a late lunch so we found a magnificent restaurant with a large menu. We ordered afternoon tea which, although taking an age to arrive, proved to be a sumptuous feast. In fact by the time the food arrived our tea had gone cold, but was replaced with a very pleasant manner. The crockery, including the teapot, was fine bone china. In fact there were so many delicious home made cakes that a 'doggie' bag provided us with afternoon delights for the next two days.
We then toured the gardens and found the monument built as a tribute to Princess Margaret who was born there.
Glamis Castle pays a lot of attention to detail and is an ideal venue for those who enjoy the better things in life.

what a wonderfull place this is,so elegant you could almost imagine all the queens past and present gliding down the staircase, very atmospheric esp the chapel where the ghost of the grey lady resides, wasnt to keen on the American tour guide though she was way over the top !! but didn't spoil the enjoyment though, when you are finished in the castle tour the wonderfull gardens we saw red squirrel on the ground and some deer wonderfull day out for all the family !!

Spur of the moment afternoon out with my husband. Friendly, helpful staff. Great tour guide :) full of information and stories of ghosts, better than going round on your own. Had delicious coffee and cake in the restaurant followed by a walk round the gardens. All the old trees are so majestic and enchanting :) all round relaxing afternoon.

Approximately £20 per couples get you the guided tour and the ability to roam the grounds all day if you wish. The guide was knowledgeable and answered all questions with a smile. Unfortunately it started to rain as we finished the tour so did not fully explore the grounds. But still considered the entry price reasonable for so much history.
