Visited the Castle whilst staying with friends who looked after the kids whilst my husband and I went on an enjoyable tour of the castle. We had lunch in the restaurant which we understand from our friends has new caterers in for 2013. They were very accommodating to the kids and the children's menu we felt was good value. Adults enjoyed lunches with locally sourced food.

The guided tour was much better than I had anticipated -I don't normally like guided tours but this one was good - the guide was friendly and the tour was informative and interesting! The cafe was top quality and good value.

we went as a family of 5 for the Easter egg hunt after paying £16.50 to get in to the grounds only the hunt was a disaster and at the end the kids got a tiny hollow rabbit. you could have bought a lot more then this for your money. To top if off my 2 year old smashed his head on a glass display unit and we had to ask the staff to put it in the accident book. only to be told they hadn't got the accident book as it was locked in the office. 2 days later and I am still waiting on the manager to ring me what a joke and a big con

Quite pretty and quite a large estate.
You can go around outside and see the dsisplay on the Royal Family focusing on the queen Mother down stairs. If you want to see the appartments you need to pay for the guided tour. Listed as 45 minutes it started late and run over an hour.
