I booked Kinnettles for my fiance's surprise valentines treat. Every year we travel somewhere different for 1 or 2 nights at Valentines. As a couple, we travel extensively during the year too on weekends away. Unequivically; Kinnettles has been one our most memorable Hotel experiences.

We've stayed in half a dozen castles and numerous country houses; some are staid and show their age in the wrong way! Kinnettles is excellently appointed with a tastefullness that adds to the unique character of the property. Rarely does the real experience exceed the hype on the website or exceed the majesty of the photos - in this case, both were true. We got much more than we expected.

The staff were superb. No stuffiness; just honest professionalism and a tailored service adding to the feeling of being welcomed into their castle! Jackie is the manager who immediately impressed us by setting up the wine cellar for our intimate evening dinner - very nice and unexpected touch. The proud personalised tour of the castle also allowed us to quickly appreciate the facilities. Jackie made us, and clearly the other guests, at ease with her 'swan like' command of the hotel. Morag was also a lovely member of staff who shared her own stories with us at dinner and stopped to pay an interest in us despite clearly being very busy during service.

Our afternoon tea, bar sevice wine, evening four course meal and in-room scottish breakfast were all a delight. The eveing meal was worth every penny and my partner and I enjoyed the variety on the menu. We consumed several bottles of bubbly and it was very reasonably priced (actually a lot less than other boutique hotels - especially those in cities).

Furthermore, our room (room 1) was a delight. We were a little late in booking to secure a suite however we were allocated a family room which meant having two huge bedrooms, a nice landing and a beautifully appointed bathroom. The main bedroom was impressive with its fireplace, immense and comfy bed and all other character features you can expect in a fine property such as this.
One thing my fiance was quick to note is how lovely and warm the entire property is - other establishments of this age we have stayed at have often been drafty or chilly or generally a tad inconsistent with the temperature. Not Kinnettles: the furness-like Victorian style raidiators are everywhere and made the stay warm thoughout. This coupled with the warmth shown from the excellent staff made this a weekend to cherish.

Room Tip: Book early and pay a little extra for the suites. Whilst our room was superb; the suites are breath...

Just back from a fabulous stay at Kinnettles castle.
Faultless from the room to the food to the wonderful service given by Morag and Jacqui.
We stayed in room 4 which was spectacular, the bathroom alone was huge with a roll top bath!!
After having a delicious meal we enjoyed the games room and snooker.
All I can say is if your invited to stay at Kinnettles castle you definitely want to say YES!!..an intimate, romantic location where you'll feel welcome and spoilt.Cant wait to go back....hint hint!!

Room Tip: Room 4 had lovely views to the front of castle over the countryside and if you enjoy your bath time...

Just spent the weekend here, initially apprehensive as the only room that was available(room 7) did not have an ensuite, however we were assured by telephone and by email that we would be the only guests with access to the bathroom(next to room), albeit there was another room on the landing.
On arrival the staff were true to their word, we had the whole landing to ourselves!! A very relaxing two days with first class friendly and attentive service from Jackie and Morag. Fantastic surroundings and the games room was right up our street. The only feature missing was a health spa for some pampering, this would have been the cherry on the cake however this will not stop us from returning!

We needed a hotel near Forfar and knew it was going to be potluck! Thank goodness we ended up at Kinnettles. Its superb. The staff could not be more helpful, and they are proud of the building and what it offers as well. The building has been restored fantastically. Our room (9) was amazing. Situated in the Tower of the Castle, the bedroom was lovely and comfortable, then up the stairs and you find a sitting room, up again and there will be a roof terrace. Breakfast was a delight. If only we had been able to eat there the evening before! We will certainly be back and look forward to future visits up to Forfar even more. Really first class.

Room Tip: If you can do the stairs, Room 9 is a delight

My partner and I stayed at Kinnettles in January, as we had previously visited to see about hiring the castle as a wedding venue. The castle is STUNNING, the pictures do not do it justice, just go is all I can say! The property itself is stunning, both inside and out. The staff were absolutely fantastic, with a special thanks to Morag for making us feel so welcome and at home. The castle arrange private dining for us, which was a complete surprise and highly recommended.
Needless to say this is our chosen wedding venue and we cannot wait to return!

I stayed here on business last night and was the only guest as they have only recently started operating as a hotel as well as being available for exclusive hire. It won't be long until they are full every night! I was treated so well by the staff and the facilities are fabulous. My suite was huge and the bathroom equally impressive. The bed was about the most comfortable I have ever found in any hotel.
The snooker table, games rooms etc are great. Breakfast was a treat, looking out over the grounds. I was staying here as I could not get a room anywhere in Aberdeen so stopped on the way up-I suspect this is the way to go rather than paying a lot more for a tiny room up there as I was in the centre of Aberdeen an hour after leaving this morning.
I will definitely be back to this fantastic castle which is immaculate in every way.

Arrived in December and spent a weekend at Kinnettles in a small group. From arrival to departure the stay was first class. We felt as we were at home with the staff in the background ensuring our stay was comfortable. We experienced a Casino night, archery and hatchet throwing and loved every minute. The food was exceptional as was the surroundings and I would give this a 5 star rating to anyone!
