“Lovely food and a real fire”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2013

Really friendly staff who advised me of their early bird menu straight away. A lovely open real fire, very warming.

The food was quickly served, well cooked, very tasty and not expensive £10.50 for the Gourmet Burger.

“GOOD HOME COOKED STYLE FOOD”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2013

Had lunch with my wife, daughter and grandson. Good sized portions in very comfortable surroundings. The 1690 coaching inn has been transformed from a grotty pub into a gastropub serving well cooked home style food. Okay, £9.00 for one course and a soft drink is a bit on the high side, but we'd rather pay and enjoy than scrimp and moan. The restaurant accommodated us with space and an open log fire, great on a chilly, damp late winter day. Friendly staff, in a relaxed atmosphere. Well done, this is new on our places to go back to.

“There are better places to eat”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

Ate at The Stag last night, and was disappointed. The food was ok, but just ok. The place is split in 2, restaurant on 1 side, bar on the other, and unfortunately, no dividing door, so it was quite noisy. There also didn't appear to be toilets in the bar area, as people from that end were constantly trailing past our table to use the facilities at the other end of the building. Quite off putting when you're trying to eat. All that said, the staff were great. Polite, prompt service. But if you want a decent steak pie, go elsewhere.

“The Best in Forfar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

Wow what an amazing place. The Stag has it all. Great fun staff able to deligate tasks. They take requsts for food and drink and you are served very promtly with great polite friendly service. The staff ca have a chat with you and are most welcoming. I feel very relaxed and comfortable whether i'm there for food or a drink with friends, family or boyfriend. The food is of a beautiful standard. Quick service and very very tasty food with great portion size. The cosey fire makes it friendly and the music sets a nice tone. Love the Stag and would definetly go back with pleasure :)

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

The Stag is a relaxing place to go and have a great meal with the family or with friends. Up stairs in the coffee shop is also a very relaxing enviroment and is a great place to meet people for a little chat. All the food in the Stag is freshly prepared and is certainly not microwaved! The staff are always cheerful and help you in anyway they can. The bar is a good place to sit and have a few drinks either before or after your meal or even if you just pop in. The Stag have free WI-FI which is good if you are in the coffee shop sitting waiting on someone. I would certainly recommend anyone to go and try it out and have an amazing meal.
