I stayed here again and the quality, service. cleanliness and ambience was again at the same excellent standard. I have never tasted a better breakfast: the quality and quantity cannot be beaten. I travel to Aberdeen from the South and do not like big cities so this makes an excellent, relaxing staging post.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent quality with no noise or interference

Although I haven't stayed here, I have eaten in the Bar/Restaurant.
The ambience is not bad for a road-side place, if a little tired. - Sticky tables and shoogly chairs.
It is however, the food and it's menu which caused some confusion on my recent visit in December.
My wife ordered Pasta with choritzo and vegetables as choritzo is her favourite food of the moment. After eating her way half-through her meal, she still hadn't found any of the tasty spanish sausage on her plate. We mentioned it to the waitress who wandered off to ask the chef what the problem was. "There was no choritzo left." she announced with a smile on her return, without even a hint of an apology. Do yourself a favour,- KEEP DRIVING!

Had a very nice meal of fab goat cheese and red onion tartlet, followed by venison stew with the biggest portion of mashed tatties I've seen in a long time. Service was fast, friendly and unobtrusive. Would be quite happy to return next time I'm on way to/from Aberdeen.

I have stayed here on a number of occasions and the accommodation and food are first class. I have never eaten a bigger breakfast in my life, and it keeps me going all the way through until the evening meal.
Friendly staff and David has a wry sense of humour!

Ihave stopped here 3-4 times over the years - the main reason i first stopped was the location just off the main road to Aberdeen - its a long drive from Birmingham, however i have kept returning because of :-

The rooms are comfortable and warm - somewhere to relax after a lot of driving.

Food is what i would describe as basic good food - the breakfasts especialy are the ideal start to the day - well cooked and presented by a lady of senior years that knows that a good full breakfast will set you up for the day,

The Bar area is small - but friendly - try the guiness its well kept.

Do not expect a Holiday Inn type of hotel - this is run by from what i remember a local owner with local friendly staff - however like anything you have to make the effort.

The only gripe i have is the room television - perhaps a little investment in Sky wouldnt go amiss - but then again i was in scotland...

Although located next to the main road south from Aberdeen passing trade certainly isn't welcome here.Over the years I have had several appalling experiences at the hands of the staff or owners which have been similar to those I have heard from others. If you want a true Fawlty Towers experience try turning up there with coach party in anything approaching high spirits you will soon be put in your place!!!!
