I arrived with two hungry kids on the way up to Aberdeen, our other choice was McDonalds and my kids are very anti Mcdonalds..thank heavens.
We had a lovely supper of small plate macaroni cheese and chips for three and the food was very good, service was quick and efficient, and we left within half and hour...excellent when you have two tired children in tow.
On the way back from Aberdeen we stopped in again, despite the fact we had to do a short detour taking us off the south road.
Again, quick and friendly service and decent food.
My only negative is that the main courses are a bit pricey. If they would bring it down from nearly a tenner for a main to around six quid, then for sure this place would be packed daily with adults going for the full meals instead of settling for the smalls....the small meals are hearty by the way.
I say, kick McDonalds in the chops, and support lovely local roadside cafes like this one.
Clean, quick and very friendly. This will deffo become a regular for me and my kids.

We often stop in here for a hot cuppa after walking up the hills - great cakes and lovely staff...especially Amber and Suzanne.

We always popped into Peggy Scott's on the way to Aberdeen and have noticed a drop in the quality of food. Today was our last visit, as in final. Hubby had macaroni and chips and it was ok. I had the poached salmon salad. The salmon was very overcooked, dry and tasteless and I hate these squeezy bottles of ketchup/ tartare sauce/ whatever. There were several slices of boiled egg in the salad and the yolk had a black edge indicating overcooking. The pot of tea for two is soooo small, I'd consider it a pot for one. Sorry but we won't be back.
