The situation of the hotel for golfers could not be better with excellent courses on the doorstep. Of the building its self. My room; while being adequate, was a bit tired. However my main complaint with the hotel was the poor service in the dining room where the party of which I was a part had to wait almost an hour from placing our order to be served on our first night and it was an hour and twenty minutes the following night. The problem was obviously emanating from the kitchen. When the food arrived it was almost without exception luke warm and on the second night one of the main course dishes was served quite some time after the other dishes so that if we had to wait for all persons in the party to be served the food would have been stone cold. We made our observations to the duty manager who did nothing. It was gauling to see tables of two and four come into the dining room after we were seated and leave before we had been served out main course.
A tip for breakfast - be specific and ask for precisely what you wish for the cooked breakfast. The first morning I asked for bacon, tomato and haggis and got one rasher of bacon, half of a small tomato and a spoonful of haggis. I didn't make the same mistake the following day.More
