Hotel is in a quiet, isolated, beach front location. The public areas are well appointed and pleasant to eat & socialise in. Plenty space for a 2 year old to run around!! Meals from the bar area are lovely, and the breakfast is small but very nice too!
The leisure facilities are worth a visit with a nice pool, sauna & steam room.
The rooms are fairly small, old fashioned and a bit grubby.........in need a refurb!
All things considered, a pleasant stay with good food & excellent service.

We stayed at this hotel recently and had a wonderful time,we made full use of the swimming pool, suana, hot tub and steam room very nice they were too. We also had a massage and the girls who massage you are very proffessional and good at their job. We had dinner and breakfast both were top quality, the dinner was of top dining quality,i had the lamb and i would highly recommend it. The only down side was the room we got which overlooked the car park, it could do with a freshening up, other than this i would highly recommend this hotel to any couples wanting a nice relaxing break. We did not play golf but were told by others who did that the course was fantastic. One final point, i enjoy a good pint of eighty shilling ale and they serve one of the best i have ever tasted at this hotel, this was a surprise to me, a very pleasant one.

Room Tip: Try for a room overlooking the course, perfect.

The hotel is dated but charming. The room was large, shower room spacious and clean. Plenty of warm water. The desk is helpful when there is someone manning it. They seemed to have lost our key and a few others , so it was a wee bit tedious asking to be let in everytime we left the room. We almost didnot get a table on the restaurant. having been told we didnot need to make a booking, I would recommend strongly to make one. The restaurant was OK nothing special. There was a party with small freeranging children walking about just as we are having a romantic birthday dinner. Still lucky for them I don't mind as I like children and families. BUt I would not recommend a truly quiet romantic dinner for two there although the food was 5 stars!

Thank you for your review.
Pleased to say our temporarily missing keys have been replaced, apologies for the inconvenience.
Delighted to hear you enjoyed your meal even though the restaurant was noisier than you would have preferred.
Thanks again

Arrived at the hotel early and had a wander around the town until the room was ready. Not much in Carnoustie at all apart from the golf. We had asked for an upgrade which we got, we had a lovely room overlooking the golf course and out at the sea and a complimentary bottle of wine. We also used the leisure facilities which were pretty busy as the locals use the gym and pool. We ate at the local indian restaurant - eventually should I say. I had booked but we were still waiting on our main course after and hour and a half. We were a bit more optimistic about our breakfast but I had a feeling of deja vue when the waiters kept walking by us with toast and tea for other diners! Again eventually got our cooked breakfast, although I shouldnt really say cooked as the scrambled egg was undercooked and freezing, the sausage and bacon were overdone and cold as well and the potato scone was soggy due to the large mushroom put on top of it. Needless to say we never touched it and left. Lovely room and view but really disappointed in the breakfast, never had one so bad. Wouldnt rush back.

Room Tip: Overlooking the golf course and the sea

We stayed in this hotel for one night while we were visiting Carnoustie for a golf weekend. We got an excellent B&B deal and considering the price, I was very impressed by the hotel. The rooms were nicely decorated and had plenty space - the hotel overall was clean and the staff were friendly.

If you are in town to play golf, this is THE place to stay - right behind the 18th green. There are lots of other great courses near by including Monifieth and Panmure, so well worth considering for a golf weekend. For non-golfers, if I'm honest, Carnoustie is not for you - the hotel has a Spa but there's not much else in town.

3 colleagues and I booked a spa day here last week and it was very disappointing. I definitely would not recommend. The changing room was like a school changing room and freezing! Led into a dark room, which might have been pleasant after the treatment but was the only place to sit. Only drinks were tap water,no snacks, fruit or hot drinks and when I asked for coffee I was told I would have to go through the hotel,in my robe,to get it from the bar! I asked at reception and they arranged so I am very puzzled why the spa staff could not have ordered for me. Lunch was at a sticky table in the bar and took 2 hours to serve, and the menu given to us was not the one the chef had and so meals were not what we ordered. Not a relaxing pampering session and not a cheap day despite the cheap experience. As a top golf hotel I think you can do much better Carnoustie.

We visited on a golf package to stay for two nights and play all three golf courses available including the Carnoustie Championship course. The hotel is perfectly positioned so thet once you have parked, you won't have to drive again till you leave, which I found great.Good service on arrival,an earlier than most hotel's check-in started us off well.A traditionally rather than modern decorated hotel with plenty of golf memorabilia to interest players.Rooms were clean and well maintained, though could do with some finishing touch up work to really bring it up to 5* standard. The breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and all staff were very helpful and professional.A nice spa with a good pool, steam room, sauna and hot tub pool, all of which were perfect for tired and cold limbs after golf.Good bar facilities which again needs probably a spruce up of some of the furniture to take it up a notch. But a terrific place to come and stay.

Room Tip: If you want a view, ask for golf course side. There are also suites available.

Thank you very much for your positive comments from your golfing stay.
Pleased that the Spa & Bar managed to revive you after what would have been challenging golfing conditions.
Hope to welcome you back again.
