“Perfect stay in a perfect house”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

The day we arrived you could not see the links golf course but when we got into the house the sun was definitely shining. A great welcome from June and Phil and the rooms were excellent. Their policy is to make you feel you are the first persons to use the room and it definitely works. They willingly booked the restaurant for us and were helpful and attentive for the whole of our stay. Breakfast was 100%. Any golfers looking for the perfect stay in Carnoustie need look no further.

This was the first time we had stayed at the Linksview. I can highly recommend it. The owners could not be more helpful. They have put a lot of thought into what makes a "high quality" guest house, especially for golfing guests either in groups or as we were "golfing couples". Modern design in a perfect location. We were able to walk to and from the course. They provide a storage/wet room for golfing gear and parking is ideal and somewhere you can sit and relax and watch others golf if you wish.
When we visited the nearby Golfing Hotel for a drink, it looked tired by comparison. If travelling by train the Station is not far away but do not be put off by the track. We did not hear anything during our stay. We certainly aim to visit again.

My son and I stayed at this guesthouse for 3 nights in early May. We were looking for something close to the golf courses, train station and town. Linksview perfectly suited this.

The hosts. Phil and June could not have been more friendly and helpful. They were happy to converse with guests and always had smiles on their faces. In our case, they went above and beyond expectations. Our golf clubs were lost in transit at one of the airports. Phil called the courier company and was able to track them down and insist they be delivered as soon as possible. With his help we were able to make an afternoon tee time. Phil also put our names in the ballot at the Old Course at St. Andrews and we were fortunate enough to get a tee time there. Rumour has it that he is batting 100% on ballot efforts!

The guesthouse. As I recall there were 3 bedrooms. We had room #1 on the top floor which overlooked Carnoustie GC. The room was clean and spacious for 2 people. The bathroom was a good size with shower and plenty of hot water (important after golf in the wind and rain). Full Scottish breakfasts were fantastic - eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, black pudding, tomatoes, toast and coffee were freshly prepared each morning and served piping hot with coffee or tea. A storage room is provided on the main floor for club/shoe storage.

Location. The guesthouse is located directly across the street from Carnoustie GC. It allows you to park your car and walk to any of the 3 courses in less than 5 minutes. There are many other courses nearby and St. Andrews in just a 30-45 minute drive away. The train station is about a 10 minute walk down the street and there are a selection of pubs. Our favourite was the Station Hotel (try the steak pie!).

Overall it would be hard to find a better guesthouse anywhere. Most highly recommended!
