“Arrogant owners - no reasoning with them”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

"To say I am disappointed is the least" is the opening of a nasty phone call received from the owner bill today! A professional business does NOT phone a customer because they were unsatisfied with a review their customer made on trip advisor and give them the attitude I received today. My bf was accused on this phone call for putting a review on trip advisor that was very negative-my bf has never used trip advisor. Bill got the wrong customer and appologised as he made a mistake. FACT - it doesnt matter if it was the right or wrong customer you do Not call a customer with an agressive tone like that. As a professional u should never call a customer with an attitude. Bills wife sunita appologised as well and explained that the only reason they were disappointed about that review is because they bent over backwards for that couple and they were late and drunk and all sorts and then to get that review was "the nail in the coffin" I explained that regardless of the way the customer was and the review given they should NEVER call a customer and speak to them with an accusatory tone. We actually had a good time in arbroath and sunita was very chatty and bill was bubbly but the attitude I got from them was hugely disappointing. If that is the treatment u would get for giving an honest opinion in a review, god help those customers and I genuinely feel really sorry for them. I feel sorry for this business as when I said they should take this as constructive feedback and put it to good use they kept saying they were "sorry and that should be good enough" -sorry but this is unacceptable in my book for it being a professional business regardless if its their home or not its still supposed to be a professional business.

I wonder who is the arrogant one in this instance, how can you state ‘there was no reasoning with us’ on realising our paltry mistake, we apologised immediately, as it was clear to both parties that it was clearly a mistake, dialling the wrong number and speaking with the wrong person is a fairly common mistake, starting a call by saying ‘I am disappointed ’ can hardly be classed as nasty. I profusely apologised at the time and my wife Sunita called you again offering our sincere apologies. You then called us back 6 hours later in the evening, stating that this mistaken phone call has now ruined what was your perfect stay 3 days ago; you followed this up with accusatory remarks plus a barrage of profanities from your foul mouthed boyfriend in the background, demanding your money back for a perfect stay. You then indicated that you would go on trip advisor if we did not refund your money, we then informed you that we would not submit to blackmail we again made our apologies perfectly clear, maybe this is the part where you found there was no reasoning with us? When we refused your demands for refunding your money on a perfect stay! You appear to have convinced yourself that a business has no right of redress against anyone who defames/lies or complains about ones business, can I assure you that it is good business practice for any business to follow up any complaints, whether genuine or false, and for them to act on them. When they are found to be untruthful, we will take legal measures to have them removed, which incidentally has been done along with the not so honest negative review in question and also the one previous. We do however pride ourselves on being a very professional business and offer our apologies when and where they are warranted, and if they are not accepted or we are told an apology is not good enough then surely that speaks volumes on the person that dismisses them.

This was our second visit, had the same room as we had two years ago,it was lovely then, but even nicer now.tastefully decorated room, now with en suite.a beautiful house,in a lovely location overlooking the harbour.couldn't fault anything here,it really should be given five stars .lovely couple who own this B and B,make you feel that nothing is too much trouble, and give advice and help on anything you want to know.breakfast was lovely, first class ingredients,no skimping on quality.i really wouldn't want to stay anywhere else if I was needing a B and B in this area

We have stayed at Harbour Nights for the past 4 years and our last stay over the weekend of the 6th December was fabulous!! Bill and Sunita take great pride in the Guest House and this shows with all the extra touches, which this time included Xmas decorations and background Xmas tunes.
The breakfast is just too good to describe and the Arbroath Smokies are fantastic!!
We are going back in April and whatever we do in Arbroath the knowledge that we are staying with Bill and Sunita at Harbour Nights is enough to ensure we will return year after year.

Room Tip: Rooms 2,3 on the first floor have a view out over the harbour and are a must if you can secure them...

A very well appointed guest house with charming high quality rooms overlooking the harbour.
Friendly and approachable owners Sunita and Bill could not do enough to make our stay a memorable one, breakfast was really hearty and unlimited tea was most welcome.
Watch out for the luxury chocolate placed on your pillow!
Would not hesitate to recommend Harbour Nights to anyone who requires a quiet well presented place to stay.

I stayed here two nights in November. To me this has to be one of the best guest houses anywhere. Others have eulogised about this place - i will simply say "hear hear". I recently stayed at, and panned a four star hotel in Blackpool and i just cannot get my head around how much better this tiny guest house in Arbroath is. There were a couple of very minor detractions but they were too insignificant to mention as they relate more to personal taste however I would advise that this place might not be suitable for people who have difficulty with stairs.

After searching our GPS (SatNav) and following directions to several accommodation sites, we ended up following road signs which led us to the harbour, and the Harbour Nights Guest House. The title of our review says it all! We were offered a harbour view room, and it was the best room that we had on our holiday in Scotland. The room is spacious, clean, well appointed and extremely comfortable. Sunita and Bill are indeed warm and friendly, and do everything possible to make your stay a pleasant and enjoyable experience. We must not forget the excellent breakfast Bill prepared for us. There is no hesitation on our part in recommending this Guest House to anyone travelling to Arbroath.
