Soprano St Magnus Court Hotel

We really liked our stay!
We were on holiday, five nights in Aberdeen, then onto Orkney, back to Aberdeen for a couple of nights and then flight back to Milan.
We chose Soprano’s St Magnus because of position, medium price range and write ups in Trip Advisor. We were not at all disappointed.
Price – I think we got a good deal from Late Rooms and, because of the price we paid, we expected one of the smaller cheaper rooms. Instead, we were upgraded to a suite on the second floor, a big corner room nicely furnished, (see photos). The bathroom was small but adequate. We got the same suite on our return from Orkney, which again we were not expecting and were very pleased to have it.
Position – great, near all transport links as the Ferries just a short walk away, Stagecoach bus station just across the road, great for getting to and from the airport (£2.50 single fare) as well as links for outside Aberdeen, local First busses stopped right outside the hotel.
Position shopping – great, Union Square shopping centre just across the road, Union St., the main shopping street, is parallel to Guild St., where the hotel is.
Breakfast – was included in the price. Cereals, yoghurt and fruit juice were self-service and a full cooked breakfast was prepared on order, as were scrambled eggs etc.
Restaurant - we ate only once in the hotel restaurant, on our last night, and the food was very good.
Staff – housekeepers cleaned well, we were only given one set of towels for two people but as soon as we asked for another set we were given them for the rest of our stay. The rest of the staff in reception or serving breakfast were very polite and helpful. We found only one girl in the restaurant a bit off. She seemed to have taken an instant dislike to me and wasn’t shy about showing it, which is a bad move if you are in the service industry and would also be getting tips if you had a different attitude.
All in all we would be very happy to stay there again

Room was excellent, great view over the harbour.
Staff all very diligent, all the way up to the MD. I left my ring behind - I'm still married! - and in the next 2-3 days they'd even searched the vacuum cleaner! Lucky they did, that's where it was. Their persistence paid off, especially for me and I'm very grateful for that. And they think it is just part of the service. Refreshingly original down to earth service!
I wanted to take the chef home! As any foody will tell you, the sauce is the key to great meals. Do try the restaurant!

Room Tip: Bel Canto great view

The stylish Soprano hotel beat my top expectations, in design, service, price and location. The rooms were homely and very clean, and the staff were very helpful too.
The location of the hotel is excellent for work as the train, bus and ferry terminal (Orkney and Shetland) is literally across the road. Plus the hotel is smack bang in the center of Aberdeen and not more than 5 minutes away from the main 4 shopping centers, 2 Cinemas and theater. Resulting in a ideal hotel for shopping spree's and friends or just for the family.
Considering the location of the hotel and the style, the prices are quite cheap.
Personally this is my favorite hotel and I highly recommend it.

Staid one night for a business trip, got a room on the top floor with a window facing the street outside, constant noise from the cars outside and peoples in other rooms - you will hear everything! So don't expect to get much sleep. Carpet and walls were dirty. The bathroom is huge, almost the same size as the rest of the room. Very good location. I paid extra to get full breakfast, but that was a waste of money! When I got down to the restaurant, there were no food left! You will get a much better, and cheaper breakfast if you eat somewhere else.
