We really liked our stay!
We were on holiday, five nights in Aberdeen, then onto Orkney, back to Aberdeen for a couple of nights and then flight back to Milan.
We chose Soprano’s St Magnus because of position, medium price range and write ups in Trip Advisor. We were not at all disappointed.
Price – I think we got a good deal from Late Rooms and, because of the price we paid, we expected one of the smaller cheaper rooms. Instead, we were upgraded to a suite on the second floor, a big corner room nicely furnished, (see photos). The bathroom was small but adequate. We got the same suite on our return from Orkney, which again we were not expecting and were very pleased to have it.
Position – great, near all transport links as the Ferries just a short walk away, Stagecoach bus station just across the road, great for getting to and from the airport (£2.50 single fare) as well as links for outside Aberdeen, local First busses stopped right outside the hotel.
Position shopping – great, Union Square shopping centre just across the road, Union St., the main shopping street, is parallel to Guild St., where the hotel is.
Breakfast – was included in the price. Cereals, yoghurt and fruit juice were self-service and a full cooked breakfast was prepared on order, as were scrambled eggs etc.
Restaurant - we ate only once in the hotel restaurant, on our last night, and the food was very good.
Staff – housekeepers cleaned well, we were only given one set of towels for two people but as soon as we asked for another set we were given them for the rest of our stay. The rest of the staff in reception or serving breakfast were very polite and helpful. We found only one girl in the restaurant a bit off. She seemed to have taken an instant dislike to me and wasn’t shy about showing it, which is a bad move if you are in the service industry and would also be getting tips if you had a different attitude.
All in all we would be very happy to stay there again
