Best part of the hotel...the cascading shower heads in the rooms. Please note, no shower curtain in the oversized bathroom. The shower is located in a corner of the bathroom with some recessed tiles for drainage. This provided an awesome shower. Oversized tubs also provided many possibilities! The entire room layout and decor is also cool and hip. Very nice! The entire place looks great!

However, many negatives. Our room was set up oddly. The switches to control the lights in the bathroom were only accessible from outside the bathroom. No fan in the bathroom! Desk snootily explained the fans was automatic. Never came on. All the stream from the great shower never really evaporated! And since there is no shower basin, they have some recessed tiles to encourage drainage and control water on the floor. Also cool...except it didn't work! Water everywhere.

Our golf tour group had 2 breakfasts and one dinner in the hotel. Service was slow, disinterested and generally poor. One ceaser salad for 16 pounds was sent back with rancid dressing. They also offered a cheeseburger for 24 pounds. That's about $32 US! One cheeseburger arrived incinerated and The server explained that local regulations require hamburger to be cooked well done. Then next burger arrived cooked a little under medium. Very inconsistent. Drinks were equally outrageously priced.

Our outing had breakfast included but service was slow. No one to greet you and explain the process. Any cooked food ordered took too long. Generally snooty attitude as well.

Maybe a great place to escape for a rendezvous, but don't expect the service and food to match the cool decor!

Much better food down the street.

This boutique hotel is gorgeous. Its luxurious in its ambiance, furnishings and rooms. Situated in a great location - you can walk into the downtown Union Street area, and its easy to access from the A90. The rooms are lovely and the beds luxurious. I had a huge room with a great ensuite. The onsite restaurant serves lovely meals in the evening but also a great breakfast. They also have a fantastic selection of Single Malt Whiskies!

Room Tip: There is a school on one side, I'd suggest asking for a room away from the school. Its not nois...

Great location, helpful staff, clean and good size bedroom, and high quality restaurant. No complaints about any of these but the price for bed and breakfast is very high, even by exorbitant Aberdeen standards. Car parking is limited, check in early!

This hotel looked really nice, lovely decor and our room was large and grand, the bathroom was luxurious and the bed huge and comfy! Unfortunately our room was downstairs and felt that we were in the basement and looked out into sheds, scaffold and bins! We should have requested a change and would have if we were staying more than 1 night! The bar seemed chaotic on the Saturday night waited 25 minutes for a cocktail!

Room Tip: Not 21!! Nice room but terrible outlook!

I stayed here again for the second time, but this time on the girls night in package with my two best friends for my birthday! They were hill accommodating by allowing all three of us to stay in the same room together, but providing an extra bed. Shortly after we arrived we received 'MAL munchies' which were out of this world (I have added a picture to show), it had risotto, pasta, savoury tea cakes, pâté on oatcakes, chicken skewers, soup, then shot glasses of different desserts!! Was amazing and totally shocked by this as I expected the munchies to be crisps and chocolate etc!! We then all headed to the spa for our treatments which were included in the price, again, no faults here, amazing experiance. We had some cocktails at the bar, which a was an enjoyable time, wide selection of drinks to choose from. the next morning we were due to have breakfast delivered to the room, and again I was stunned, it had everything, cereal, milk, fruit, a yogurt, croissants, jams, butter, and fruit juice!!! Amazing!!! Aberdeen Malmaison is still ' the mother of all Mals ' to me and I cannot wait to return!!

My husband and I stayed for one night on the 4th May. This was our second visit within a year on a DB&B rate. Whilst the first stay was fantastic, I have to say that the standard was not so high this time. The shower cubicle was not watertight so taking a shower meant flooding of the bathroom floor was inevitable. It just felt that there was general lack of care about the decor and fixtures within the room. At dinner our main course was delayed, and we were told this was due to a large party who had been late. This wouldn't have been a major problem but other people who had arrived after us were tucking into their main courses and puddings, whilst we still waited. The food was thankfully good. We did advise both the restaurant and reception staff that we were not satisfied with the service. Disappointed after such great service on our last trip.
