Really enjoyed our visit here which we had purchased a voucher for which made it very reasonably priced although it was perhaps a tad expensive if you were paying full price for a pub meal. The burgers were however very tasty and the portions were large.

Had a lovely meal in this establishment. The chicken with haggis was really tasty and hot. Needs more tables as it is awkward eating on low tables and sofa. It was busy which shows the locals think it I good.

My wife and I were in Aberdeen in November and we were recommended to eat at the Blackfriar's Pub. Well, we were almost the only ones in there and waited about fifteen minutes without service, and we decided to leave. Good thing, we walked about a block or two west and stumbled on The Wig. Were we surprised. The outside is average for a pub which appeared to cater to barristers and solicitors, but we were pleasantly greeted by a co-owner and were made to feel welcome from the start. Since it was so cold outside, and we both had come down with a touch of flu, we ordered jacket potatoes and a couple of pots of tea. It turns out that the bartender was, along with another fellow, the new owners of the pub. We chatted for a while and he returned to duties whilst we warmed up. The atmosphere is sports bar with large screen TVs about, but if you get to chat with the staff, this really is a neighborhood pub in the real sense. Definitely worth a visit or three.

Decided to visit The Wig for a late lunch today as had heard the food was freshly prepared and you got a good plateful. Well they were not wrong. Greeted by a very friendly team at the bar who were very attentive full of fun. I had a fabulous texan burger whilst my partner had a beautiful chicken escalope with a three cheese sauce and wow even the chips were out of this world with a secret seasoning. We will definitely be back again!

We popped in for a late lunch, and the place set facing the royal courts, is cosy enough, and service and entertainment courtesy of Adam was superb. Decent fish and chips (though a little dry I was told), and fab fish cakes with salad. All reasonably priced and a good lunch stopover.
