“Astounding Value for Money”

The staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful but also geniunely interested in helping you make the best of your stay : )

The food at the Hotel was fantastic and very reasonably priced. We had a lovely 2 course dinner plus a childs meal with some drinks and a bottle of wine for £50.00. Breakfast was also a pleasure with plenty of choice we were so full we didn't eat again until night-time.

Our bedroom was spacious, clean and comfortable but was a bit tired but for £39.00 for a family room there was absolutely no room for complaint!!

I would definately stay at this hotel again but would bring my own pillows as i have had thicker slices of toast than the pillows in this hotel!!!

We only stayed here one night as we were travelling on to Edinburgh. We hade a Standard Double Room with en- suite. Lovely clean room. Comfy bed and pillows. hairdryer, iron& board, trouser press, and tea/coffee facilities ,t/v, Good car park + Disabled car park. Nice evening meal, we didn't arrive untill 8-45pm and thought we might not be able to get anything hot. Lovely breakfast , we would rate this Inn 9/10

Stayed for a couple of nights for leisure. Have stayed in many hotels in Aberdeen on business in the past but this was the least satisfactory. The room was ok but lacked an information pack, the tv remote didn't work but was fixed after leaving a note for the cleaner. Shower had a very poor flow rate and the beds were very uncomfortable. Breakfast [an extra] was like school dinners! Everything was congealed and very salty. Will not be staying there again.

Having stayed at this hotel a couple of times before I was pleasently surprised at the difference. Although it still needs alot of work, the current management make the best of what is available. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Grant, the one from Glasgow, loaned me his laptop when mine would not and made us tea. The food has come on leaps and bounds and was as good as I have had in 5* before, new chefs I was told. I am really happy to say things are getting better at the Waterwheel!

i stayed at the wheel as its known localy for three months in total. it was a last ditch atempt to get a room in aberdeen for a few days work as all other places where full the week my work booked was ment to be the week only then they would move me closer to the place i was working anyway the week turned into three straight months. i enjoyed the waterwheel for the room which was rather big, fresh and comfortable. the room was cleaned daily and towels replaced. the food was good to especialy after having to eat there for so long bar was also good place to relax after a hard days graft plenty of light getting in through the conservatory. breakfast was great though i did wonder why they never used the breakfast room as an evening resturant as it was great space and as for the staff the couldnt have been any more helpfull. actualy went back there on two diff occasions when in aberdeen for social reasons

Revisited this Hotel after change of ownership. Receptionist, Susan was welcoming, cheery and most helpful. We were offered drinks and snacks, having arrived early and our room was not quite ready. We were made to feel very welcome. Hotel is in need of some refurbishment now. The bar/restaurant served nice food though the bar decor needs some friendly touches.

My friend and I stayed here with our 2 collies for 2 nights. It has been a grand hotel -owned by the bankrupt Swallow chain in a past life - but is now ticking over.
That said we could not fault the welcome or our cases carried to our room. The room was very clean ,large and comfortable - though perhaps new pillows would not go amiss. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of shelf room and lovely fluffy white towels. Shampoos, soaps and tissues were also provided as well as a drinks tray with biscuits.
We ate in the hotel on both nights and were more than satisfied. The breakfast was buffet style but with plenty of choices - even though we were always last down. The staff were all friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay a pleasurable one.
We chose this hotel purely because they accepted dogs and we were not disappointed. They also were made welcome and the surrounding area is just right for walkies. Out the side gate and you're on to a lovely track that takes you past the mill stream and eventually up onto a disused railway walk. Our dogs were never left alone in the bedroom (they went in the car into their crates when we ate ) but they slept happily on their blankets on the floor. No doubt tired out by all the walks!.
Turn left out of the hotel and a few miles down the road you come to Drum castle then a few miles further on Crathes castle with its fantastic gardens and house. So it is ideally situated for sightseeing and handy for the city of Aberdeen.
