We landed in Aberdeen for the beginning of a one month journey. Arrived at Marcliffe before our room was ready, but had a wonderful lunch in their tartan-clothed lounge! After napping our jet lag away, we had a wonderful, intimate dinner in the beautiful dining room. Our suite was beautiful with very comfortable linens. Sorry that we were only here for one night!

My husband and I stayed for two weeks at this hotel while home visiting family and friends. Again, we were not disappointed. We had a fabulous time at the hotel. We were treated with the 5 stars this hotel commands.

For a great dining experience the Champagne afternoon Tea and do have the Sunday dinner.

Every party of our stay from the room (albeit is stuck in the 80's) but nonetheless spotlessly clean. The staff courteous and manner able. From the Bar staff, breakfast staff, front desk, waiting staff, housekeeping nothing was too much bother. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a long or short stay and I will be back it was a joy!

My husband and I stayed there on Friday evening for our anniversary. As we arrived at around 6pm and weren't going to dine til nearer 7.30/8 we decided to go to the lounge for a coffee. The staff were milling around hoovering, stocking up the bar with ice, etc, etc, not ready for the evening at all. The staff office is at the side of the bar with a fluorescent tube which seemed to send quite a glare into the lounge. The door to the staff room does not seem to exist as staff were constantly going to and fro. Behind us at one point two members of staff had a conversation about another guest staying in the hotel. I tend to think that staff should be seen but not heard. I definitely think its time to overhaul their staff and get some proper training in place. The room we stayed in was Ok, but did not have the wow factor on entering. The meal we had was of good quality and plenty of it. I had eggs benedict with smoked salmon next day for breakfast which was lovely. My husband had the full English which was also cooked well.

We visited the restuarant as part of a small business party and despite being on time, there was no seats available to sit to have pre-dinner drinks, despite booking an area. It took a long time to get our first round of drinks and that delay had a spin off effect on the meal. 45 minutes late at this point.
As always the quality of food delivered was first class - starters, mains and desserts were perfect and the fillet steaks in particular were excellent.
The serving staff were helpful and not over attentive, they got the balance just right.

The main problem for our group was the long wait before each course, which we were told was because everything is cooked to order. Many other restuarants manage to cope with a party of 13 and 30 - 40 minute waiting was just far too long. A lot of our guests ended up leaving before the sweets were served and all had left before the cheeseboard arrived.

Will I go back - of course I will. Marcliffe has probably one of the best restaurants in Aberdeen but they do need to fix the kitchen-to-table timings.

Really lovely Sunday lunch in relaxed surroundings. From the receptionist that greeted inthe Lobby to the waitress that served all staff at Marcliffe provided an excellent and efficient service. Food was of the highest quality and good value for money.

Would recommend booking and having coffee afterwards in the bar ( again ask your server to reserve a table it gets very busy).

Room, location, day time food and service were outstanding! Evening staff were the rudest we have come across across Scotland (Kinloch lodge, Number 1, Ardoe Etc).

My girlfriend was refused complete with condescending "no" when asked if she could have the bucks fizz without orange juice at a wedding. The rude response(s) became topics of conversation throughout the evening even comical at times.

She also requested a a gluten free meal which sadly and strangely for the entré was a mere fruit salad and lemon sorbet and a gf bread roll from a kitchen famed with producing good food. The waiter responded with an attitude that leant itself to suggesting we should be grateful for dining at the Marcliff.

All in all I think they forgot what side of the bar they were on. Service was terrible, rude and obnoxious. Our advice is simple and based on not only our experience but others on the day. Choose another hotel to get married in such as Ardoe.

If you must stay we emplore you to avoid the evening staff and try another restaurant for the evening such as The Crynoch south of the city.

The hotel is beautiful along with the service prior to 2pm.
