It was a family meal. Extended family were staying at the hotel, so we thought we would have dinner at the restaurant. Service was very slow, taking 20 mins for a drinks order to be sent from the bar. I had the French onion soup from the specials menu. The onion was not cooked long enough and I also had the outer skin of the onion, tough and chewy.

The main I had was the sea bass. The skin was not crispy so didn't experience the fish at its best. One person had the roast pork belly, that did go down well.

There are no burgers so beware if you have a teenager in the family who was so set in having one. He was directed to the children's menu and had to settle for a Thai curry and rice. He was underwhelmed and the small portion did not satisfy a growing member of the family.

A strange evening. Long drawn out meal due to slow service. We didn't dare ask for a sweet incase we would be waiting a while for that.

We bought an itison voucher for a two course Sunday carvery lunch and were disappointed with the experience.

2pm was the only time available so the cabbage and roast carrots were pretty limp and they had run out of skirlie.

There was a choice of beef or turkey which was cooked fine. The cranberry and horseradish sauce had to be asked for separately from the busy waiting staff. Soft drinks priced at £3 for a coke.

Overall not an enjoyable lunch.

Good menu choice provided excellent food beautifully presented, and attentive service, all made even better by the fabulous table magician, Gary. Make sure you visit on a Friday night to catch his amazing tricks, not forgetting Basil the Bunny too.
Great night, the kids were enthralled!
