“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

Well kept secluded gardens in the west end of the city. The gardens are set over multiple levels with a couple of nice ponds with small burns and a waterfall.
- Take some bread for feeding the ducks
- There are public toilets but not sure if they are open all the time
- Small play park up the top end for the kids
- Plenty of benches to sit and take in the peace and quiet.

“Aberdeen's Little Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

The best kept secret in Aberdeen. Beautiful & peacefull gardens within the city. Where as other parks in the city seem to be badly neglected these days, these gardens are well kept and well used. A great place to walk or sit on a bench and enjoy the colours and beauty.

“Three acres of heaven”

In the west end of Aberdeen off Queens road near where there used to be the quarry, is the JohnstoneGardens. Basically two large pond with a waterfall at one end and the entrance at the other ,it has however won a national award for small parks in the past. Well stocked with plants on a seasonable basis and tended by the council , whenever you visit there is always something for the discerning gardener to see. For the children the ducks are always an attraction and there is car parking available at the entrance

“Interesting and well kept secret!”

Cracking garden hidden away in residential Aberdeen. Interestingly set out with multi levels running water and ponds. Great selection of plants and trees giving year round interest. Well worth seeking it out.

“little oasis in the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

This hidden gem transports you to another world. So unexpected. The beautiful blue bridge reminds me of the Gardens Monet painted. I'm not a gardener to be able to appreciate planting but the mood of the gardens is wonderful. There are trees at the back which go a stunning orange red in autumn. The victorian pavillion is beautiful. Great for a bit of romance. There is a little play park at the back and a small waterful which the kids like. The kids love all the paths. There are toilets. For a nearby coffee there is the Gordon Highlanders museum cafe. Combined both places make a lovely afternoon out.
