Owner description: "The Finest Regiment in the World" was how Sir Winston Churchill described The Gordon Highlanders in 1900. So why not come and see why? A wonderful day out and a fantastic welcome await you at The Gordon Highlanders Museum where we are committed to preserving and sharing the legacy of this world-famous Regiment. The Museum is a Visit Scotland 5* attraction (the only 5* military museum in Scotland). It is located at St Luke's, Viewfield Road, Aberdeen, in the beautiful former home of prominent Scottish artist, Sir George Reid. However the Gordon Highlanders Museum is more than just a museum - it has a wonderful tea room, a gift shop and beautiful gardens all of which are staffed by volunteers and can offer conference and fine dining facilities as well. The Museum, in addition to displaying the permanent collection, has a full programme of events throughout the year, including a major annual exhibition (at present 'Shattered Hopes - The Gordon Highlanders in 1914'). It also provides an excellent learning and outreach programme to schools and community groups throughout the North East of Scotland, courtesy of our Education sponsors. The Gordon Highlanders Museum is an independent self-financed charity that receives no public subsidy. It is reliant upon visitors, donations and sponsorship to maintain its current range of activities. Opening Times: Early February - Late November Tuesday - Saturday, 10am - 4:30pm

Visited with friends who like myself have a family connection with the Gordon highlanders. Plenty of information about the history of the regiment. Lot's of interactive things for kids, such as dress up corner. Would have like to have a way to look up people who have been in the regiment to find out a bit more about them. It would have been good to see some photos of my family/friends family members.

Good museum of the Gordon Highlanders, a legendary regiment now combined with other regiments. Very good exhibits and a very good film which you should see - we thought it was worth it. Because we had just eaten, we did not stop in the tearoom, but it was jam-packed with locals, so I am assuming it is really good. They do have parking.

My father had served with the Gordon Highlanders so I was interest to visit their museum. Unfortunately my hotel staff had never heard of it but a quick search of the Internet provided details of it's location and opening hours. I found it to be a very informative museum with knowledgeable staff who are only to willing to share their time and knowledge of the over 200 year Regiment. For those travelling by car there is plenty of car parking both on the museum grounds and the roads surrounding the museum. Well worth the visit.
