“Great park to let the kids run wild”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

The Duthie park is a very large park in the centre of Aberdeen. It has lots of open, grassy space and a wide path all the way round. Great for the kids to zoon around on their scooters, bikes and roller blades. There is a childrens play ground at the Polmuir Road entrance which is a bit run down but enough to keep the kids going. They are in the middle of huge renovations of the park which include a wonderful new childrens park, can't wait to return once it's open.
The highlight of any visit is a walk round the winter garden. It's a welcome break from the chill of the Aberdeen winter and wonderfully kept.
The big disappointment is that the cafe is currently close. We really miss the cafe but hopefully someone will take it over and open it again soon.

“Greenhouse Version of the Crystal Maze.”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Split in to arid, tropical, carniverous and smelly plants etc. It's nice to go in in Winter and see some plant life. The cacti are huge and plentiful. Worth a look.

“A wonderful place to relax”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

Have been going regularly to The Gardens for years. We find it a very relaxing and thought provoking place of interest. The floral displays are simply stunning, especially the Victorian Gardens which are a wonderful mass of colour no matter the time of year.Even in miserable Aberdeen weather one can stroll through the temperate zone ,the arid area or the " tropics" ,all under the cover of glass and transport yourself many thousands of miles away!!THIS IS A MUST SEE ATTRACTION FOR VISITORS TO THE CITY.

“A floral extravaganza.”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

The David Welch Winter Gardens (named after the famous horticulturalist) situated within the Duthie Park, are one of Europe’s largest indoor gardens with beautiful floral displays all year round with many rare and exotic plants on show from all around the world.

It consists of a Temperate House, Corridor of Perfumes, Fern House, Victorian Corridor, Japanese Garden, Tropical House and Arid House, and has one of the largest collections of Cacti and Succulents in Britain and a terrapin and gold carp ponds.

Many areas of the massive glass house are heated and there are seated areas where visitors can relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
