Kildonan Guesthouse
Ranked #18 of 103 Aberdeen B&B and Inns
Reviewed April 14, 2012

We have just returned from a lovely trip to north-east Scotland which was made even better by our stay at the Kildonan Guesthouse.
The guesthouse is located on Great Western Road and it is 5 min into the city centre by car.
We had a really large, very pretty room with huge windows on the first floor, tea try (with cookies), toiletries complementary.
Breakfast room was equally nice, classical music playing in the background, very nice selection of food (menu offered toast, full Scottish, vegetarian, eggs, porridge cooked to order, there was also a small buffet with different types of cereal, fresh fruit, fruit in syrup, yoghurt and orange juice; we mostly had full Scottish breakfast which was prepared freshly and tasted really nice). Breakfast times during the week are quite early, 7.00 to 8.30, but after a "busy" day of hiking and sightseeing we went to bed early anyway, also restaurants in Scotland to me seemed to be closing rather early, to, so we didn't have any late dinners.
The hosts, Jim and Marj, were really friendly and helpful without being intrusive, they were happy to help me out with a hairdryer and we could leave our luggage there on the last day because we had a late flight.
All in all, I highly recommend this place to anybody visiting Aberdeen - ask for room 6!

We stayed at Kildonan for one night and was greeted warmly by Jim, the owner. We were then showed to our room which was huge and very pretty! There was parking at the rear of the B&B and the wifi worked very well in the room. We had our breakfast in a very nice breakfast room and it was very nice. It would be easier to drive into town if you need to as I think walking could be rather far.

Nice rooms and very clean. Wi-fi access, coffee/tea making in the rooms. 2 miles from the city centre makes it a quiet enough area but not too far away. Co-op and Tesco Express within 5 and 10 minutes walk and a good pub (Mariner) close by. Friendly welcome at Kildonan - i would highly recommend it.

Stayed here for 2 nights; were made very welcome by hosts. Room clean and comfortable, good breakfast. House walking distance from centre, and easy parking at the back of the house or road nearby.

Received a warm welcome from the owner on arrival and were shown to our rooms. My room was on the top floor (up two flights of stairs) and was clean, modern and well-decorated. The beds were comfy, with white sheets, cushions and a throw. There was a couple of chairs and a table in the window which afforded views over the street and the countryside beyond. The shower was powerful and a range of toiletries was provided. Despite being situated on a busy road, there was little traffic noise in the room, and blackout blinds kept street light out.

The choice of food at breakfast was good and the ambience of the dining room was relaxing with pleasing décor.

We would definitely choose to stay at the Kildonan Guest House on our next trip to Aberdeen.

This is a lovely Guest House, exceptionally clean and very welcoming hosts. I stayed here for 8 days and really enjoyed it. The breakfast was served in a very good breakfast room with relaxing decor and gentle classical music playing which sets you up for the day ahead. The food was lovely and freshly cooked to order, plenty of cereal choice, orange juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, prunes and grapefruit.

The single en-suite room on the ground floor was really comfortable and had everything I could need for a stay over. The TV was on the wall and the shower was always hot and good water pressure, the towels were white egyptian cotton and very soft. I understand wi-fi available but I did not need this.

This is based on Great Western Road and there is on street parking around but there is a good bus service near the Guest House which goes to Union Street for shopping/restaurants etc. A very enjoyable stay and I would like to return again some day soon. Would recommend for a business or leisure stay.
