Got an itison offer for this hotel. We stayed in one of the dapper rooms. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in. The breakfast in the morning was also lovely. The staff were incredibly friendly and happy to help. Would thoroughly recommend a stay at this hotel and will definitely be returning in the future!

A quick introduction. Wow, what a warm, inviting stay. We've just had a two night stay over Friday & Saturday night. The staff are second to none, they couldn't do enough for us. The room (103) fantastic, nothing out of place, perfect is my only description. We ate hear on Friday evening and the whole meal was wonderful. There's plenty to do close by, shopping is a five minute walk away and you've got excellent bars & restaurants close by. Our only problem the whole weekend was having to ask for an iron, if that's all I can find to make a negative point, then I invite you to come and experience the Carmelite Hotel for yourselves. 10 out of 10!

We stayed here on the 3rd & 4th January and certainly weren't disappointed. On an itison deal we upgraded to a suite and all I can say is we totally recommend booking The Japanese Suite, beautifully decorated, huge room, don't want to say much else it would spoil the surprise for anyone else, but couldn't fault the room. The staff were cheerful and more than helpful. In particular Louise & Marie who both really are great ambassadors for the hotel, going above and beyond the call of duty to make your stay memorable and pleasant, well done girls!!! Nothing was too much trouble and to be shown to your room instead of been left to find your own way was most impressive :) Quirky, friendly and well positioned hotel, can highly recommend.

As a returning customer I was very disappointed .
The last 2 occasions we have stayed in the suits , but in the 21st of December we had christmas shopping to do in aberdeen and we booked to stay in the dressing room.
We were NOT told on the phone that there would be a works Christmas party that weekend . But expected this anyway
Arrived about 3pm to check in and the lobby was upturned and I was greeted by a young woman who gave us key to lock up the car I was then told about the Christmas party's and we were advised not to come down to the lobby for a drink as it would be to busy and to order room service . I found this very cheeky
I waited for my husband to park the car and another male member of staff again then told us to avoid the downstairs completely that evening . How rude !
Went to our room where water was leaking from a room upstairs . I called down to let them know and was told that because we had already been given a free upgrade (untrue) that he would give us a bottle of wine and they'd clean it up while we were out .
This didn't happen and the puddle was there later
When we returned that night the lobby was packed . It Was ridiculous the amount of people they had crammed in , the dj booth was at the front door the dance floor in the lobby ,the music was honestly pounding and roof speakers were crackling . I completely understand having christmas nights out in the library and large hall , but the lobby ?
We didn't get much sleep that night as party went on until 1am and by the time everyone had left and gotten taxis .we were so tired and mad that we didn't stay for breakfast
payed our bill and left .
I just wonder if you are paying the extra for the suit if they treat you a bit better , but to be a returning guests it was very disheartening.

Got to give it a shout out; Carmelite serves up the best Long Island Iced Tea cocktails in Aberdeen. They are superb. The only downside is the price at £10 each but they do use premium spirits, hence why it tastes so good!

This boutique hotel in the centre of Aberdeen is very nice. The room is spotless and the bed was huge. Separate toilet and shower. The only downside is because it is in the centre then you have the noise of the revellers going home, the bin men emptying the bottle banks early in the morning and the sea gulls squawking early morning. The breakfast was lovely, so all in all a pleasant overnight stay.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Carmelite is neatly positioned in the centre of Aberdeen's Merchant Quarter, which is adjacent to the transport hub of rail, bus, coach stations and harbour. The Merchant Quarter is the "grown up" area of the city, full of independent bars and restaurants, and surrounded by the city's 5 under-cover retail shopping centres. An historical Grade B listed building dating back to mid 1800's, Carmelite has undergone major refurbishment program over recent years, introducing a boutique environment on the ground floor of Carmelite Bar & Grill, whilst the 50 bedrooms offer a mix of "Designer" Suites and rooms on the 1st floor, "Dapper" rooms refurbished end of 2012, on the 2nd floor and comfortable standard rooms on the 3rd floor. These enable attractive rates to suit all budgets. Aberdeen is a commercial city, with limited accommodation mid-week, however weekends offer some fantastic deals making an alternative visitor experience very affordable. The 6 Suites are all different, and very quirky - from round beds in turrets, and gigantic sleigh beds, all designer rooms have cast iron baths, monsoon showers. The "Dapper" rooms have un-cluttered designs with a mix of large monsoon shower rooms, double ended steel baths (some designed with 'no taps'), and black-out window blinds. All the bespoke furniture in these rooms were made by A social Enterprise Company in Dundee, called Dovetail. The 3rd floor standard rooms, although not yet refurbished, offer clean, comfortable accommodation, still with all the usual amenities. All rooms have luxury beds made locally by Social Enterprise Aberdeen Company called Glencraft. Designer "Anatomicals" or "Keiji" bath products, 32/40" LED Samsung Freeview TVs, as well as clocks, iPhone docking stations, tea/coffee making facilities, and most rooms with iron and ironing boards. A room service menu is available during restaurant times. The ground floor also is a boutique environment, quirky with a large open plan lounge and dining area, with informal comfy sofas, a Baby Grand Piano playing at weekends, and a dining 4 Poster Bed. The comprehensive bar menu offers superb cocktails, 12 champagnes, and extensive wine and drinks as well as a bar nibbles food options. Menus cover breakfast and brunch from a "Wake Up till Noon" menu, then an A'la Carte "All Day Menu" available from 12noon through till dinner. There is a Shoppers Menu available till 5pm each day with £8 main courses, and a Market Menu options each evening. There are two event rooms, Library and Balmoral for delegates up to 120, private dining to 50 diners, and Mad Hatter Tea Parties from 20 people. Intoxicating Afternoon Teas are a specialty, as well as Rock & Roll Parties in the 4 Poster Bed. Free wi-fi is available throughout the building, with a PC available for guests' use in the library. ... more   less
