We stayed here for three nights and thought it was great. Aberdeen is very expensive for accomodation and we thought this was good value for money. The suite was nice, very clean and had everything you could need, it was good to be able to cook and not eat out all the time. I didn't find the decor anything but nice, but I guess if you want somewhere super modern or 'cool' it may not fit your taste. We wanted somewhere nice with a good location and it suited us well!

Breakfast was nice and free secure parking was a big bonus for us. I don't know Aberdeen well but we thought the location was good as well, easy walk to plenty of shops, restaurants etc.

Finally, the staff were all very helpful. If we go back to Aberdeen we would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: We didn't find the stairs a bother but if you think you would request a ground floor suite.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Skene House Whitehall. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay. My House keeping department, lead by Head Housekeeper Christine, work exceptionally hard to ensure every suite is up to our very high standards of cleanliness and we are grateful that you have taken the time to mention this.

We are indeed very fortunate to have free secure parking and we do enjoy an excellent location, close to all amenities but also quiet with the benefit of private gardens.

I hope you have a chance to return to Aberdeen and I look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind Regards

We had a "Studio Executive" room #1031 on the top floor of Entry #10, meaning four floors up and hearing the rain on the skylights at night. The "suite" itself was large, with a separate sitting area, small kitchenette, bathroom, and bedroom area. The kitchenette included a microwave, 2 burner range, fridge, toaster, knives, coffee pot, a few pots and pans, and dishes/glasses/tableware for two people. The bathroom included liquid soaps, tissues, warming towel rack and good shelf space. Wifi (very good reception) and parking (we parking in the "main car park" behind the hotel) are included as is a complementary drink from the bar area hidden behind a door in the downstairs sitting room. There was also a PC in that area. There is a separate laundry room, but the washing cycle is one of the 2+hours European ones which we did not have time for. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk to a main street in Aberdeen where we found a supermarket for our dinner. There did not seem to be many restaurants although we passed many bars.
The "cold buffet" breakfast included hard boiled eggs, juice, fruit toast, ham, cheese breads and rolls. One can also order a bot breakfast, but the cold buffet was more than adequate for us.
The downside to our room was its being on the top floor and our experiencing pouring rain in the middle of the night for several long hours. It beat on the skylights forever. Otherwise, we would rate this establishment higher. For the space, the suites are a good value.

Room Tip: Avoid getting a room on the top floors (beginning with the number 3). There are no elevators, so yo...

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review for Skene House Whitehall. All of our suites are located within traditional granite buildings and therefore elevator access is not possible. We do however, have a wide range of suites and we are always happy to accommodate requests for lower floors, where possible.

I am very sorry that the allocation of a top floor suite marred your stay, all of our studio suites are
located on the top floor and it is unfortunate that the weather interrupted your sleep.

It’s lovely to read that you enjoyed our facilities such as free wifi, parking and we are indeed fortunate to have a free guest laundry, which is greatly received by many travellers.

I do hope you will return to stay with us, should you visit Aberdeen in the future.

Kind Regards
Karen Barbour

Just returned from a wonderful weekend in Aberdeen where we stayed in Skene House, Whitehall. The accommodation was of the highest standard and the customer care excellent. Every single member of staff - reception, breakfast room, cleaning staff, porters were most pleasant and couldn't do enough top ensure your stay was first class. Would definitely have no hesitation in staying here again. Keep up this excellent service.

Room Tip: For those with knee/hip problems! - better asking for ground or first floor. The steps are steep to...

A series of converted flats (apartments) above a converted shop, Skene suites are clean and quiet. And rooms (sorry, suites) ARE big. So if all that's what you're after, then this place is good and friendly. Downsides are access is through the outdoor carpark and decor - deary me - like a throwback to 1986. See pictures.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Skene House Whitehall. As you have found, our suites are decorated in a traditional manner keeping with the traditional Granite buildings and we appreciate this is not to everyone’s taste. We do have an extensive of range of suites available, and perhaps if you are travelling to Aberdeen in the future you will give us another try and we will allocate a suite to your preference.

We have just returned from a family wedding in Aberdeen. We stayed in Skene house Whitehall. We had 14 people with many different requests and had some changes to our original booking. Liz and the reception staff could not have done more for us. Nothing was a bother. We could not thank them enough. The breakfast staff were wonderful and when really busy stayed calm and coped with us all. A truly wonderful place to stay to explore city centre Aberdeen.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, during your family wedding. I am sure you will agree staying is a suite is much more comfortable than a typical hotel room. Liz our dedicated Group Co-ordinator works tirelessly to ensure every last detail is correct and I will be sure to pass on your thanks to her and the rest of the team here.

I hope you get a chance to return to Aberdeen and visit us again.

Cannot fault this place really. Only thing you need to watch out for is the lack of lifts and the noisy seagulls if you are on the top floor as we were. Ask for a room lower down if you have trouble with stairs although the concierge staff were very helpful with luggage. The room was plenty big enough for the two of us and well equipped with a small kitchen area including cooker rings, microwave, fridge and sink. Breakfast was good and cooked extras very good value for money compared to cafes etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The icing on the cake for us was because we had our flight from Manchester cancelled at check in we had to drive up in double quick time and were going on after 2 nights on a weeks coach tour so had nowhere to leave the car. The hotel staff checked around but could find nowhere convenient for us to do this so let us leave the car with them for the week. I would happily have paid for this but they would not hear of it. This going the extra mile for customers is what distinguishes excellent customer service and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others or staying again myself.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent stay, it is always nice to hear from our guests.

Unfortunately there are no lifts available due to the traditional style of the buildings, however our Concierge staff are always on hand to assist with luggage or where possible we will accommodate requests for suites on lower floors.

My staff strive to provide the very best customer service and I am glad that you experienced their efforts.

Hopefully we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Skene House on your next trip to Aberdeen.

Kind Regards
