“Good DoubleTree, better than the Hilton Treetops”
Reviewed December 5, 2009

Typical Hilton Doubletree fare, but in my opinion tries harder than the Hilton Aberdeen Treetops Hotel and represents much better value.

There is a Platinum Club Wing which is essentially the Executive floor. This has a separate bar/dining room area from the main hotel. Very attentive service from some lovely eastern European staff.

My room (upgrade HHonors Diamond) was perfect. Large King Bed, well appointed bathroom (Doubletree amenities are better than Hilton!) complete with work area and setee.

High-speed Internet is free for Platinum Club wing guests.

Typical Hilton breakfasts.

Location is excellent for town and for the Dyce industrial areas even in the infamous Aberdeen traffic (take the back roads - 10minutes). Also good for the Altens estates but of course subject to the bridges.

In summary: Good location, good example of a Doubletree Hotel. This is my first choice hotel in Aberdeen.

Thank you for your trip advisor feedback. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay at Doubletree by Hilton, we do operate high Hilton standards and work hard to try and exceed these. Our Platinum rooms are our top level of room options and really are worth the addition upgrade fee.Included in this is free WIFI and soft drinks and chocolates in the hotel mini bar. I am glad Doubletree is your first choice of hotel in Aberdeen. Our location is excellent for the city, access and as you say easy to get to most places.

Kind Regards

The hotel is situated near the beach, union street and kadonas making is a great location for leisure. the hotel itself is really comfortable with descent rooms, good swimming pool, good breakfast food and computers. the only thing to make it absaloutley perfect would be for the staff to make a tiny bit more assistance to guests then it would definetley have nothing wrong with it. we stay here all the time and really enjoy it and a lot of other reviews are disapointing in my opinion.

My first impression of this hotel left me unimpressed. I was under the impression as a new Doubletree it would be a new hotel, so was dissapointed it was an old hotel, newly branded as a Doubletree.

The exterior wasn't so great either, we arrived around 5pm and there was no great bright light to tell us we have arrived at a Doubletree, and as there had been flooding the night before the road was closed so had to come in the back way, so we were clueless to wherethe fron door was as signage wasn't great. The building could pass for an office block.

Welcome at Reception was great, girl had a Trainee badge on but she was very professional and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the cookie on arrival, a nice touch.

The lift, as others have pointed out isn;t great, i actually thought it was ther service lift
when we came down in it.

The room was clean, and had everything you could need for a nights stay. The furniture seem a tad old fashioned but did the job. The bed however is the saving grace, i had the best nights sleep i have ever had in any hotel. Would love one for my house :)

The bathroom was also a little old fashioned, the shower was one of those thin plastic heads with an oval shaped head, you feel your dancing about the shower to get fully wet. Again, there was a redeeming factor, i loved the toiletries. It was a lovely treat to have Neutrogena facial wash and moisturiser, especially as i had forgotten mine. I still had a few days travelling and cheekly asked the room attendant if i could have another wash and moisturiser and she gladly gave me, so i was very happy indeed.

Breakfast was not bad, not the best i ever had, but not the worst. Again a nice welcome at Breakfast goes a long way to cheering up our day.

All in all it was a fine stay, but not that special to keep me going back, next time i will try Treetops. Shame as i loved the walk to the beach as it was only a few minutes from the Doubletree.

Stayed for 2 night break this time after staying here last year as a complimentary upgrade. We were under charged at check in (paid by cash) asked why and she said that was the rate without breakfast - asked if we wanted breakfastat £15 each per day and receptionist advised us that she thought that was quite expensive!!! Rooms were very dusty - showerhead was manky and covered in dirt....thick dust on all the lamps very dirty behind bedside table which was clearly visible...and the best thing was when checking out we were told we had to pay an extra £45 because the receptionist got the rate wrong at check in :(( A definite let down for the hilton group.

Check in and out was fast and easy, location was pretty good, staff seemed friendly enough, the room itself was small, dusty, and the ventilation on a smoking room was non existant. It was far too hot which made it very uncomfortable as the 'air con' did not work, the bed was a mass of dips and lumps which combined with the hot room made it impossable to sleep. We were looking forward to taking some time out but it really was spoiled and we couldnt wait to get home! We looked into getting some breakfast on the last day....soon to be laughed at..£18 per person plus a £10 surcharge to the room rate each, as it was the weekend, £56 for two people to have eggs and bacon is absolutly ridiculous! The cookie on arrival is a nice touch but the thing was vile and could have cracked glass it was so hard...may be helpful to get some air in to the room!
Hopefully it was just a bad experience for us and unfortunate, would be a good hotel for people on buisness and people with more money than sense when ordering food!

I stayed in this hotel with my husband for our 3rd Wedding Anniversary. It is in a nice location across from the beach and 15min walk to City Centre.

Our room was a small standard room which overlooked the reception. We requested a mini bar and when we checked in the receptionist advised that we had to leave credit card details and they would deliver the key for it to our room. 30mins later still ni key to mini bar, when I called to reception to enquire about this reception stated that our room does not have a mini bar and we could not get one, 1st dissapointment. 2nd was when we got woke up at 4am with the noise of tables and chairs getting moved about fron reception this went on for an hour and then the lift started going after this so no lie in.

Breakfast was dissapointing, so much so we did not bother going on our second day as it was not worth going out our way for.

Bed was comfertable and tioletries were nice, bathroom was clean and well lit with nice fluffy towels.

We booked into the beauty salon and had massages and facials that was nice.

Would not return to this hotel again as we went for a special occasion and did not feel as though it was special, infact it was very average.
