Reviewed September 27, 2009

Not worthy of 4 stars except for the staff. Stayed for two nights. From arrival, lift sounded as though it was about to break down throughout stay, broken chair obvious as soon as we got in room, complained and they did replace it promptly, shaky/broken table, 4 little cartons of milk for two people, bathroom shabby with dirty grout and mould around fittings, soap dish on wall above bath hadn't been cleaned in months, unidentified open pipe in wall above bath, terrible shower fitting and water kept running from bath tap meaning that shower water never got to right temperature, towels on second day were old, worn and rough, wash cloth disappeared on second day, extractor fan didn't work, cheap toilet paper and one set of toiletries between two people, no air conditioning in bedroom and tilt and turn window tilted and turned at the same time meaning that couldn't be left open because of wind. Only plus was that staff were polite and pleasant, giving excellent service, and food was good but there was less of a choice on the Saturday than on the Sunday. Reception staff were reserved and I was not surprised as they must get lots of complaints. We only complained about the broken chair on arrival as the list got so long it was embarrassing and staff were obviously doing their best. The first breakfast was not charged to room - staff member said that for some reason our name was circled on the list - and assumed it was because of complaint about chair and I heard another couple being told that their evening meal was not being charged to their room. I think the policy is that maintenance is non existent but they compensate with no charge for something. The maintenance? man who replaced the chair was not in any sort of uniform and gave no identification except that when he arrived at door he knew it was the chair that was faulty. Had I been on my own, I wouldn't have been keen to let him in.

Return trip to this hotel for another buisness trip. Was well impressed as soon as we hit the reception at the upgrade we were given to the Premiere Rooms.
Also happy to see the points raised in my previous visit had all been attended to!

A nicer experience all round, well done to the staff.

We scored getting this for the 2 nights for 1 deal , but it still wasn't cheap .
We had booked the hotel for a theatre break and as such it was good . The staff were very helpful from waiting staff to manager.
There were problems over the the TV which were quickly sorted.
The onsite pool was well run and not too busy . The location is slightly off the main area of Aberdeen but easily walkable in around 15 minutes, but I would think it wouldnt be great in bad weather.
This hotel has only recently become a Doubletree and is still undergoing the metamorphosis.

Thank you for taking the time to write up your feedback on your recent stay.

Yes you are correct the hotel is still in it's first year of the Doubletree brand and the operations team have been working very hard to fully embrace the Doubletree culture. At present we have a very good team who are hard working and very friendly and all have the mission to "wow" every guest if possible.

I am glad to hear your TV issues were resolved quickly.

Thank you again.

Kind Regards

Having seen some of the reviews an trip adviser we were a little concerned to have chosen this hotel. However completely unfounded.
Hotel is well positioned for the beach and a short walk, about 15 mins into town. The maritine museum is well worth a visit and is free.
We stayed for two nights in a platinum suite, it was really pleasant with seperate well furnished lounge , huge very comfortable bed with crisp white linen and loads of pillows.all absolutely spotless. Well stocked hospitality tray, complimentary minibar with soft drinks and chocolates and complimentary newspapers.modern bathroom with lots of fluffy big towels and generous toiletries.
Our only concern was no air con but with the window open a bit we were fine.
Breakfast was very tasty, after some fresh fruit and scrambled eggs we lingered over muffins and another pot of coffee.
Leisure facilities were excellent, my husband was impressed with the hotel gym and I enjoyed the pool, jacussi and steam room, again all spotlessly clean and well appointed. I had a manicure and pedicure, very relaxing and professionally done.
We dined in the main restaurant on oyur first night and had a very enjoyable meal, very attentive service and fresh, well cooked and presented food. We also had a bar lunch on our last day, again very enjoyable and good value.
What we felt makes this hotel special though is the friendliness of the staff and without exception their willingness to do that little bit extra to make you feel valued as a customer. For example we arrived at 11am, well before check in time and our room was available and we were checked in straight away with a warm welcome.Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble. We hope to return for another break soon.

Thank you for taking the time to write up a review on Doubletree by Hilton Aberdeen. All feedback is much appreciated.

I am delighted to read you had a great stay and enjoyed all the hotel facilities. There has been some additions to the operations team over the last few months and they are working very hard to try and meet and exceed all guest expectations. The beauty spa I believe is a hidden gem and glad to see you had a positive experience there also.

Thank you again, and I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel.

Kind Regards

This hotel is badly located and is by NO way close to Aberdeen city centre ! Its location is appalling and although I stayed ina Premier room , it was small and very cramped for a supposed new wing. Worst of all it had no Air-conditioning in the rooms and only two street facing Velux windows , which only opened for minimal ventilation at the top . The main windows were locked ! When asked with I could have a key to relieve myself from the 29C heat in the room they refused , saying it was a security concern !! On the second floor !! Further to that be aware that street side rooms are subject to the nearby illegal street racing with load engines from Aberdeen hoons till the early hours ....No repeat vist here !

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback, this is very important to us.

I am sorry you feel the location is not city center, Union Street, the main city center street, is a 5 minute walk away. The hotel has air-conditioning in the Platinum Club rooms however at present is not available in the the main hotel rooms. August in Aberdeen was very hotel this summer, unusual. I do appreciate your comment about the windows not opening fully, this is for security of children.

If you would like to contact me directly I am more I would be happy to discuss further, off line.

Kind Regards
