I am not a religious person, but had a great time wandering around the graveyard and soaking up the history of this wonderful building. Inside the cathedral is also steeped in history as are a lot of the nearby buildings in Old Aberdeen.

One of the must to see places in Aberdeen. Historical building in the quiet environment constituting old city together with very close University of Aberdeen. There is no entrance fee but you can make a donation. There are leaflets in different languages (even Polish that is not a case in even the most popular places) so you can read all history that is very interesting. Lady selling post cards was very helpful and explained all additional questions.

A historic cathedral which not only provides regular worship opportunities but is host to a series of musical and other events. For example The Bach Choir performs here. New minisiter is Rev Jane Barron, the first female cleric in a long and distinguished history. A well stocked shop with quality items is available and visitors are made welcome during the week. A detailed booklet reveals the mysteries of the magnificent heraldic ceiling and other features. Acoustics are first rate when hosting special events such as on Remembrance Sunday.
A living committed congregation. Bell ringers welcome you to this wonderful church.

This is a wonderful building - from the outside it could only be in Scotland! Inside it is calm and very special - the ceiling, the tombs, the fact that although there is so much that is old, it is also a place which is growing, it is not standing still. There is someone on hand to answer any questions - not in a well rehearsed or rote way, but with a sense of delight in the cathedral. The graveyard is worth looking round - it makes you think how lucky we are today. The old town and university are also lovely to walk around, though the Botanic gardens are closed in Winter.
We travelled from Aberdeen centre on a no.1 bus - you can also catch no. 2 and , I think, no.20. The bus drivers will direct you and I recommend the firstday bus pass - £4+ for the day, and you can catch the no.15 to the beach and/ or Footdee later on!

There is fantastic history, beautiful stained glass and happy memories of attending a renewal of vows here. Peaceful and tranquil church.
