Went there at about 5.30 pm, so I guess it was a bit early. Tried the spicy soup with prawns - very good, although not the spiciest I have tasted. Followed this with the homok talay: "A delicious mixture of squid, king prawns, crab claws and shellfish steamed and flavoured with lemon grass in a red curry sauce" which was very good and measured up to the menu description. The staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was good with pop music that was being played at a comfortable volume. The only downside was that the Thai beer was a little expensive although it was up to its usual excellent standard. I shall definitely be visiting this restaurant again on my next visit to Aberdeen.

Went as party of 4. Food was good as usual and good value for money. We chose the band C menu for £26 per head. We couldn't do it justice as they gave you so much.
Service was rather slow, but it was a busy Friday night. We were offered a quiet table, which in hindsight we should have taken as there were a couple of large tables with some rather raucous customers, which tainted the atmosphere. Not the restaurant's fault though.
I would recommend to others.

This is one of Aberdeen's oldest Thai restaurants and it is still around because of Simon's attention to detail and the consistently high level of food and service.

We opted for a banquet and all four of us enjoyed the selection of starters followed by duck with pancakes and then a delicious selection of mains which included plump prawns, a slightly spicy chicken dish and a really tender beef option. This was served with rice and noodles.

Somehow we managed to find room for dessert, a light banoffee pie which satisfied our craving for a wee sweet taste! All was washed down with a reasonably priced Pinot Grigio Rose.

The manager offered us a complimentary drink to end the meal; a very nice ouch.

Unobtrusive but attentive service - had forgotten w pleasant an experience the Royal Thai offers.

We were in Aberdeen for the weekend and spent most of Sat aft shopping, bar hopping and searching for somewhere different to eat in the evening. We found the Royal Thai, hidden off the beaten track, and it was well worth the visit, When you first approach this restaurant all you see is a door. No windows etc as it is set at the back of the building. We booked and went back later. The service was fantastic and extremely efficient, all the waitresses were dressed in authentic looking outfits of different colours, very pretty. We chose a set menu for 2, the food was delightful, could have chosen a spicier version but it was good for us. We noted that several of the other guests were regulars as they knew the staff by name. Obviously well worth another visit by more than our experience. We would go back again if we had another chance to visit the city.

A surprise anniversary treat from my partner today. Having not long returned from a holiday in Chiang Mai we recognised many of the dishes on the menu and were spoiled for choice. We decided to order the banquet so we could sample as much of the menu as possible. Every dish was delicious and full of all the flavours we grew accustomed to during our holiday. The staff were really friendly making us feel very welcome. We'll definitely be back!
