“City Centre good locale”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2012

Stayed for an overnight only on Wednesday 7th March, booking by phone very easy and helpful, on arriving at the check in desk again very simple. First issue was getting into the hotel, taxi driver dropped me off at entrance to shopping centre, I walked in and didn't find it easy to enter the hotel proper I scouted about for ground floor access to no avail , finally found it at the end of a row of restaurants and shops, quite a welcoming area once you get there, allocated a rear facing room with a vista over HVAC from the shopping centre and flat roof, room at 140GBP per night I thought was quite small also bathroom pretty unwelcoming, the bed however was extremely comfortable. Check out before 6am was painless , booked the wake up call for 5am and taxi for 5.20 am, wake up call on time then I got a call saying my taxi was here, I said no issues but it was booked for 5.20, on arrival taxi was showing 8.80 GBP on the meter, when questioned the taxi driver said it was waiting time , as it wasn't 5.20 at that time I left that taxi and got a passing taxi to take me to the airport instead, watch out for this. Otherwise short but pleasant stay.

This is always my first choice of hotel for Aberdeen mainly because of it's location. It is part of the Union Square shopping mall which has a good variety of chain stores. The railway station is nextdoor and the airport shuttle bus stops outside and runs every 30mins.
Rooms are always clean and the staff are helpful and polite. The hotel restaurant is not great, but there are plenty of places to eat in Union Square. Union Street is a short walk with a multitude of bars and eateries.

My husband and I stayed for one night in November last year. The main entrance to the hotel is actually in the Union Square shopping centre which we hadn't realised and did take us a minute to figure this out! We arrived around 10am and it was no problem to check in and go to our room. The rooms are on the small side but adequate for our stay. The air conditioning is a definite bonus. Bathroom very small but on the plus side the shower was good - certainly woke you up in the morning! There was no noise through the night and we slept well on a comfortable bed. As someone previously said there are ice machines in the corridors which is a great idea! Breakfast was good, usual buffet style help yourself. Staff were all pleasant and friendly. The location of this hotel is fantastic! Out the front door, down the escalator and out of the shopping centre and you're only a few minutes from Union street. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant in the evening as we thought it was a bit pricey. The shopping centre level that you're on has a huge choice of eating places - something to suit every taste! We had a fab meal at Frankie & Benny's and then went back to the hotel bar for a drink. I would definitely stay here again for the handiness of the location but at over £100 for the one night it isn't the cheapest but we wanted to treat ourselves on this occasion.

Overall impression is public areas attractive but rooms and corridors kind of dormish.
Rooms are smallish but comfortable. I thought the bed very comfortable.

Location is this hotels strong point. It's brilliant! Located inside Shopping mall and train complex. It has 10 or so medium quality placed to eat seconds from front door. There is also a movie theatre seconds from the hotel.
Add to this not having to brave Aberdeen weather to enjoy a meal!

Value depends on what you pay for a room. Beyond £100 I'd say it's Average and if you pay £150 poor. Meals are very reasonably priced.

Right in city centre and your not ripped off oil and gas price wise .

Nice big rooms, very very nice staff mostly full of Irish charm, very accommodating and helpful. Bar bad restaurant nice, food ok in bar pub grub type. Drinks hotel prices but cheaper than others.

Free wifi in bar and ground floor. Very very clean.

Rooms that by lifts are noisy and doors stiff and have to b slammed shut, so sleep broken slightly. But beds very comfy.

The breakfast ok. The staff really make this place though. Noting is to much trouble for them.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms by lift, I was in 605 and could hear everything!!

Brilliant location attached to the Rail station and a fab shopping centre. We were there in the first week of December and the decorations were excellent. In the centre of town, lots of shopping centres to wralk round and close to other attractions such as the maritime museum which was well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Lifts to all florrs so no problem for wheelchair users. Good help yourself breakfast, didn't ea...

It's a fairly new hotel, so the rooms are clean and comfortable.

Excellent location and right next to bus and train station, so access from airport etc was painless.

Breakfast buffet was also good and at £8.50 reasonable value.

A nice touch is an ice-making machine - I suspect there's one on each floor.

The only negative is that although there is free wifi in the reception / restaurant / bar areas, Internet access in the rooms is chargeable.

It's worth shopping around to get the best rates, but overall this was an altogether better experience than a 'budget' hotel we have previously used, at only a slightly higher cost.

We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Minimal road noise on 6th floor.
