Overall good service from the waiter Ryan, however not many other positives.
There was a nice seating area but we were placed by the messy bar where the staff were rushing around, tidying up from the night before. Did not create a relaxing or professional environment.
Food- unfortunately we didn't get what we paid for. According to our Groupon voucher, we should have received 2 types of chocolate dips, fruit juice shots and granola in our yogurt, which did not arrive. The items that did arrive, weren't very exciting. Also requested a gluten free option but told it wasn't available at short notice.
Overall, we do not recommend this place.

Thank you for your positive comments relating to Ryan and his service to you.

Depending on what day, and time you visited would determine where we allocate seating. It sounds as though you may have dined on a Sunday morning which Saturday evening accommodation is always busy, with many residents dining for breakfast usually within an hour and a half. This can appear a little chaotic, when they all suddenly get up and return to their rooms to prepare for check out. We then turn this lower lounge area round for Sunday lunch/afternoon teas

We therefore allocate the tables away from this area on Sundays, unless bookers have specifically requested a booth seat.

This Brunch Stacker has a fairly extensive range of items, specifically based on breakfast. We do offer alternative products for Gluten Free as well as many other allergy free options. However, it does prove challenging when not previously requested on booking as all items are specifically bought in to ensure provenance.

The Breakfast stacker is a very popular choice, and I would be pleased to discuss your views further regarding what we could change to offer 'more exciting items' within the price range. Please feel free to contact me direct at Carmelite. We are very open to change and welcome customers ideas.

Regarding not getting what you paid for - 'GroupOn 2 for 1 offer'
Granola is served as a sprinkle on top of the Yoghurt Shots, (it is not a separate item within the stacker), we only state 1 shot of chocolate and nutella dip, and the OJ/Apple juice are offered as you are seated as shot glasses.

Was here with 3 friends. Service was good and the food was good. We had the goats cheese with salted beetroot which was served on a slate and was tasty. This was followed by Amity Scampi, skinny fries and mushy peas. It was good but not remarkable. Had there been a good in between the "average" and the "very good" I would have gone with that. You can't really mess up scampi. The menu wasn't very adventurous and we didn't have dessert because nothing grabbed out attention.

Thank you for your positive comments regarding your meal.

We are into our 'Winter' All Day Menu which does have 9 starters, 16 main courses and a Festive set 3 course menu for £18.95. We feel that's quite an extensive menu choice which covers comfort food as fish and chips to seared duck breast.

We change our menus seasonally, which we also tweak the menu when there is a dish which isn't popular. We also have a wide range of bar-nibbles (single small plates) which are very popular too.

I do hope you will revisit and try alternative items from the various menus we have available.

Food not that nice, wouldnt recommend the steak. service not that great, took ages to acknowledge us and it wasnt even busy, we were just ignored. Didnt really like this place that much, might come back to see if we were just unlucky with the food and the workers but unsure.

We've never eaten here but have started popping in for a relaxing drink or two from time to time. It's a really large bar with comfortable seating and decent background music. Sometimes there's a pianist playing which adds to the ambiance. Staff are always really pleasant and they've a very good selection of gins which some staff are quite knowledgeable about.

However, there's no point in having a great choice of gins if they're all just served with a bog standard lemon slice and a bottle of unchilled tonic. There's room for improvement on both counts. We'll still go back and hope they start using the proper garnishes that compliment the various gins (pink grapefruit, strawberries, black pepper, orange etc ) and CHILLED tonic water too.

Thank you for visiting Carmelite for drinks and pleased yo enjoy the ambience and live pianists. I also welcome and appreciate your constructive comments, although also generally pleased your overall experience was positive. I have spoken at length with the Senior Mixologists and have revised the garnishes for the gins, with added training to the new guys on the bar. Please ask for me when you are next visiting, it will be good to catch up. Gary A

After being served 15 mins after the rest of the party, I was so disappointed. They should just say they can not cater for vegetarians and vegans. My sandwich had tomato and cumber in bread...that was it. Then packaged bought cakes and a small bowel of pineapple chunks. The crazy thing is my vegetarian friend could have had everything from the normal afternoon tea, apart from some of the savoury items but instead she also just got the packaged cakes and the excuse for a sandwich! Certainly left very hungry. I did enjoy my coffee though...when it eventually arrived.

Apologies for this poor service. I have investigated and we so have a pre-agreed vegetarian and vegan offer for our afternoon teas. It would appear you had a trainee server trying to assist, whereby poorly communicated with our chefs. Apologies, hopefully you will allow us another opportunity in revisiting Carmelite in the near future.
