Beautiful home. Wonderful owners. Perfect location to tour Northern Ireland. We used this home as a base and returned each night to the sheep outside our window.

Australian Couple mid 60’s.

The ‘Bothy” is situated in Rouskey. A small hamlet near Omagh in Northern Ireland. The hamlet has no facilities other than a small community center hall and a large church. The nearby villages of Gortin and Greencastle have pubs, restaurants, fuel and small grocery outlets. The nearby city of Omagh has all facilities.

The “Bothy” is a stone barn converted into holiday accommodation. It comprises a ground floor and a mezzanine floor. Approximate size of the ground floor is 17 metres by 5 metres. The mezzanine is about 80% of the size of the ground floor. There is also an attached sun room approximately 6 metres by 3 metres. The sun room features a large picture window which overlooks the valley and farmlands.

The ground floor comprises a combined sitting room (with open fire), dining and kitchen area, utility room, good sized bathroom (with toilet and bidet) and a large bedroom with a double bed and a single bed.

The mezzanine comprises a sitting room, good sized bathroom (with toilet and bidet) and a large bedroom with a double bed and a single bed.

The building has central heating. The ground floor has under floor heating. The mezzanine has radiators.

There were only the two of us and we lived on the ground floor. The setup of the accommodation would be very convenient for 2 couples traveling together.

The WIFI was fast and reliable.

The sitting room has two couches, the open fire and a flat screen television. The television pictures were excellent. A large container of turf was provided for the fire.

The kitchen comprises a electric stove with 4 hotplates and oven, fridge, toaster kettle etc. Cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils are provided for the 6 person accommodation limit. There is a table with 6 chairs.

The utility room has a microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine and clothes dryer. There is also a ceiling mounted clothes drying rack in the utilities room. The clothes drying rack worked very well with the central heating. There is a storage cupboard under the stairs which has a connection with the central heating. We found this cupboard very handy for drying the bath towels. The mezzanine bathroom has a heated towel rail.

Both bathrooms have over the bath showers. The water was hot and the pressure was good. There were no “off” smells in the bathroom. The toilet flushed well.

The sun room has 2 couches which provide very comfortable seating for 4 persons. The view over the valley and farmlands is beautiful.

Rouskey can be accessed by a local bus service. We had our own transport, based ourselves for 10 days and wagon-wheeled out into the surrounding country. Belfast, the north, east and west coasts are all within easy day traveling distances.

The accommodation was spotless. The hosts live over the road. They were friendly and available but not intrusive.

I can not recommend this accommodation more highly.

Lovely rental with a beautiful country view out the back. Perfect place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed the open fire and the country walks nearby. The beds were cozy and the house was warm.

“Exceeded all our expectations!”
Reviewed April 4, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We booked a week at The Bothy as our first family break as a family of five (5 yr old, 2 yr old and 7 week old). From the moment we got there, it felt like we were home, with Charlie, the owner, lighting the fire for us. The views are spectacular from the windows over the valley and it is such a peaceful place. Our children had a ball and enjoyed the secure garden area where they could play and watch the sheep in the field below. Late night games of scrabble and opportunities to walk in the area gave us all the opportunity to wind down. The Bothy oozes charm yet has all the mod cons you would wish for. Charlie's very kind invitation to come and see the lambs on his farm (it was lambing season) was the icing on the cake for the children and made a memorable break unforgettable!

“Perfect in every way!”
Reviewed March 28, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We wanted a place that was centrally located in an area of Ireland that we hadn't seen before. What we found was far better than what we expected. The Bothy was like a home away from home. It was clean, comfortable, and peaceful, and has the most beautiful view of Ireland that we have ever seen. It was perfect in every way.

“The last word”
Reviewed February 17, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

I had been looking for some where special for a valentines present for my husband and I came across this little jem. We were not disappointed. The Bothy is stunning. Combined with its beautiful décor and the location made this a perfect romantic get way. I fell in love with this place online but when you see it for real, its even more perfect than we could have even imagined. The massive brick fire and the complete lay out of the Bothy is just perfect. Totally recommend a stay here, if its a romantic weekend break or a family holiday or you just want to chill with some friends. This is the place for you. Bernadette and Charlie thank you for providing such amazing place.
