“Great Family Day Out”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

The folk park is enriched in history and going around all the houses, streets and through the boat makes it very exciting for all ages. we had a ball, the tour guides were dressed up and their knowledge was fantastic. They were excellent interacting with all the family and making it interesting to parents as well always a plus. It is more than worth the drive and a visit. Do hesitate go and visit now, you wont be disappointed!!

“Enjoyable outdoor museum”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

I love folk parks and living history museums, and thoroughly enjoyed this one as well. We arrived about 90 minutes before closing, but still had time to see all the buildings and a bit of the exhibits.

The theme is Irish emigration (which I actually didn't notice from their website), and as the museum was funded by the Mellon foundation (I believe) it has buildings and stories from Mellon's life for examples of emmigrant life.

The walk through the museum takes you first through Irish homes and buildings from different periods, an emmigrant ship, and then emmigrant homes and shops brought to Ireland from America and reconstructed on the grounds. A fun way to enjoy some Irish-American history!

(Only complaint is the cafe - it's more "cafeteria microwaved burger and chips" than the "museum cafe quiches and bakery" I was hoping for. Just eat before you visit.)

“Halloween Fright”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

Best time to visit is at halloween where you can take to the trail by night for a spooky adventure. Really good for both adults and children. Shows throughout the trip and also great tasters of food that was eaten in the olden days.
