“Lovely Local Conversation”
Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

We were wondering around Derry and saw the many country flags flying outside and decided to go in for a beer. The only people in there were local gents stopping in from work and a few regulars. It was so fun talking to them about Ireland and sharing with them about America. Gerry, the bartender, is displayed in a large picture behind the bar as the first person to plane walk across the Irish Sea in 1998. He was so interesting and entertaining to talk to and all the men made us feel welcome. They only serve lunch until 2 so cannot comment on the food but the fellowship here was warm and inviting. Cheers!

“Looks better from the outside!!”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

This bar is beside the Guildhall in Derry, just outside the city walls, and apparently one of the oldest bars in town. I've passed it several times, but last week was my first visit, and probably my last. It looks inviting walking past, but as soon as you go through the doors, you notice an old fashioned bar in need of some TLC. Kinda looks like a makeshift bar, thrown together, and difficult to get comfortable in. You'd imagine that because of it's proximity to the Guildhall, that it's be a fine establishment. Go around the corner to the Custom House bar, and relax in a bit of comfort.
