“Horrible!”

We didn't have hot water for the whole 2 day 2 night stay. Out of our group of 13 people with 6 bedrooms, 4 of the 6 bedrooms complained to the reception desk about not having hot water. they said the problem would be cleared up in 30 minutes to an hour. They receptionists were very understanding and helpful, except for the fact that the problem was not resolved, and we went 2 days without hot showers. I will not stay here again.

We stayed there on Saturday and Sunday nights and our room was on the street side with a bus station across the street. The bus runs on the hour all night. How do I know this? Because, as it got closer to when the bus arrives the cacophony of sound from the people waiting increased in volume until it woke us. I don't care how solidly you sleep, your threshold will still be met. You may only lay awake two minutes or it may be fifteen. And this is every hour. Sunday night, not so much noise.

We were on a driving tour so we selected this hotel because of the adjacent parking garage. However, when we got up early, about 6AM, on Sunday morning to drive through Donegal we were told the parking garage was closed and didn't open till noon. We were trapped! One day of our precious vacation killed! And no advance warning! Emotions: panic, anger, disappointment.

I believe I've said enough on the hotel. I don't recommend it, but if you are planning on staying on a week night and you are not on a driving tour, there could be worse accommodations.

Also, I recommend Derry. It is a little tense, with the troubles somewhat fresh, and in the pubs, I received a lot of advice on what I need to talk about with my president. Bush fans may be less tolerant, and vice versa. All in all, though, I loved the city.

Admire the photos on this page for a taste of the views from this hotel which is built above a lively bar. Another highlight of your stay will be picking your way amongst the vomit on the street outside the bar in the morning.

The City hotel nearby is the same price and far far superior. Enough said !!!

The hotel is pretty impressive from the outside and the rooms are generally clean. The bathrooms however are a totally different matter. The bath and sink had huge cracks in them (which is thoroughly unhygenic). I asked to be moved but they were full so I was stuck.

The hotel is on a kinda party street so I wouldn't go here at any time because there are a couple of colleges nearby and the college kids party every night! The noise of screaming, drunkeness, police vehicles, breaking glass etc went on til about 3am. Avoid at all costs if you can!

The hotel itself is beautiful (far more upmarket from the outside than your regular Travelodge). The room was clean and spacious, but a little maintenance wouldn't have gone astray as the windows didn't shut properly and there was no hot water for almost all of the time I stayed there.

Eventually a plumber was called and I gather the problem was fixed....long after I'd left to catch an early flight. For the money it's not bad - if you like bathing using hot water from a travel kettle!

As there is an abundance of hotels in Derry for the size of the city, I'd avoid the Travelodge if possible.

Situated in the centre of Londonderry adjacent to the old city walls and the river.Multi story car park attached to the hotel and accessed via the reception/ dining area and is free of charge.Staff very pleasant and helpful but couldn't recommend the food, however this is no problem because there is a Weatherspoons pub on the ground floor which provides excellent food and drinks at very cheap prices. There is a small shopping centre about 50 yards away where you can get a great breakfast in the Tesco cafe for about £2.50.The rooms are large and clean and value for money, worth booking.
