We recently stayed one night and it was ok. The location is good for sightseeing and we had a lovely view of the Peace Bridge.
Parking was a problem and our bathroom door would not close. The breakfast was very average and probably the worst for our whole trip.

The location of this hotel could not be better - right in the heart of Derry and close to most tourist attractions. If you are lucky enough to have a room overlooking the river, as we had, the views are amazing. This is a very good four star city hotel (as opposed to a more personal, small hotel) having well maintained ,comfortable, modern rooms, leisure facilities, bar, restaurant serving nice food with pleasant service, very pleasant and welcoming reception staff and on site parking (which in a city is a great bonus). Our one night stay which included dinner and B and B was excellent value.

Room Tip: For a view - go for river side.

I stayed in the City Hotel for one week in August for the Fleadh. We traveled from New York. Over 400,000 people showed in up Derry, and the hotel"s standards were brilliant. I ate the most amazing breakfasts every morning which were included with the room. We ended up eating dinner four out of the seven nights at the hotel because of the excellent service and great food. The front staff, waiters, housekeeping, porters were helpful, pleasant. Thanks to Laura for helping me get my IPHONE mailed back to the USA after leaving it in the hotel. The rooms were very clean, great view from the room, vending machines on the floor for drinks and snacks. The pool and the pool staff were wonderful with children. When the American irish ceili bands needed someone where to practice, the staff gladly opened up conference rooms for us to use. We won 3rd place! Thank you and hopefully the fleadh is in Derry 2016! we will be back.

Room Tip: we stayed in a famly room 213. The room was big enough for our family for the week and the view was beautiful of the river and the peace bridge

Stayed here in April 2013 and was disappointed. We first stayed here about 6 years ago and it was great, good food, accomodation and incredible position. Well the position is just as good but the accomodation, sadly, is badly in need of opdating. The legendary breakfast was also sadly a pale imitation of the memories we had of it. I shall be trying a new hotel for the next trip as this is was a very expensive let down for us

The location of The City Hotel could not be better.
We had a superior , double room on the 5th floor. The room was spacious and immaculately presented and we had a wonderful view over the Quay and the spectacular and beautiful new " Peace Bridge ".

We were here at possibly the BUSIEST weeks that the city has ever had to deal with. The whole city was teeming with people and the hotel was full to capacity.

Despite this, there was no sense of overcrowding and the staff everywhere were polite, knowledgeable, professional and absolutely NOTHING appeared to be too much trouble for them.

Breakfast ( because of the extra demand ) was served in the huge ballroom. The staff were just a delight, so warm and friendly.
The lobby was buzzing with life and the bar food was very good and reasonable value for money.
We are so glad we chose The City Hotel and most certainly will if we return.
