“Amazing food! Best in Derry!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2012 via mobile

We've eaten here several times now, for lunch and dinner. Always find the food to be exceptional! Cant understand the couple of negative reviews.. Clearly those people are very hard to please, or haven't got a clue when it comes to receiving amazing food with stunning presentation and beautiful flavours!

We've had a multitude of starters from the Squid to Ham Hock & also the chowder! All are to die for. The care and effort put into these dishes is clear as soon as its served to you!

Early bird menu is unbelievable value!! And certainly doesnt lack quality.

Restaurant is always clean on any of our visits & service is flawless. Only negative comment I could possibly say is sometimes the place can be very quiet and has a poor atmosphere. You almost find yourself having to whisper so the other tables dont hear your conversation. On our last visit for lunch (I had the pork belly - which was beautful.. and presented immaculately) we were given a small soup each whilst we waited which we thought was a lovely touch.

Bottom line - Watts & Co is in my opinion THE best place to eat out in Derry. Well done to the chef who without question knows what he's doing. Pitty more people didn't recognise & appreciate it.

“Fabulous family dining experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2012

Myself, husband & 2 yr old daughter have dined at this restaurant on numerous occasions, & each time we have all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Food presented beautifully & using the best local produce that can be found, what more could you ask for? Simple. Early bird menu excellent value. Kids well catered for and welcomed.

“Excellent First Time Since Spice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2012

First impression was clean, tidy, modern yet warm restaurant. Service was great well spoken and took us straight to table and give us a choice of two tables, which was a nice touch!

Donal served us our drinks and was very helpful with chosing the wine.

Ciaran served us our food order and was very helpful with any questions we ask. When i visited Spice i got a Surf'n'Turf dish which Watts & Co sadly did not have on menu, but none the less to Ciaran and his team after mentioning i would have loved a Surf'n'Turf, but settled for the fillet of beef, he managed to produce to the table a Surf'n'Turf dish which was fantastic and great surprise.

The starters and deserts were great, highly recommend the sea food chowder!

The service all night was great and thank you to Ciaran and Donal! Am sure you can guess who we were with the Surf'n'Turf incident and look forward to dining with you again shortly!

“A lot of thought and effort in these dishes and it pays off”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2012

Having just read the previous review, which is alarmingly off the mark, it's important to give a fair and honest appraisal of this place - it's excellent. The care and consideration that goes in to the food and the service is very high.

Judging by the last review, the reviewer ate all his food, complained, didn't get enough money off and so went and wrote a bad write-up. Judging from the previous reviews, this is a pathological approach to dining and has reflected extremely unfairly on this restaurant which was excellent.

Openly and honestly, nothing's perfect, but the starter (ham hock with piccalilli) was great, so was the squid - the crab risotto and rump steak were splendid, the new potatoes were some of the nicest I've tried.

Lemon dessert was lovely, the Prosecco (£22) is a lovely, well sought-out choice.

The cheese and biscuits however are an afterthought and missing simple garnishes like apples/grapes to help with the dryness - the choice and size of portions of the cheese were average. The espresso was insipid.

Two faults though amongst dozens of truly great qualities at this place.

Please do try it out, it's worth the money (and it's also very very good value).

“Great food and service”

Great food beautifully presented, attentive staff without being overbearing. What more do you want from a restaurant? The kitchen obviously care about ingredients and getting the best from them. If you are in Derry give it a go.
