Owner description: The historic Guildhall is one of Derry's most recognisable landmarks, located in the heart of the city since 1890. The Guildhall is a must see visitor attraction with over 20 magnificent stained glass windows representing the history of the city and the Plantation of Ulster exhibition . The newly refurbished and award winning Guildhall provides a unique and state of the art venue for events. The main hall has a capacity of up to 600 standing or 400 seated and provides a stunning backdrop for corporate hire, conferences, events and civil ceremonies. The Whittaker Suite can accommodate up to 60 and is the perfect space for business meetings, functions and civil ceremonies. All spaces are equipped with state of the art technology for sound, audio and lighting.

The Guild Hall is a Victorian building of 1887. It is built of red sandstone which makes it look like a Scottish building or certainly foreign to Ireland. It is a beautiful building which is fronted by a fine plaza.

To be honest it was starting to rain and I hadn't been in since it was renovated!
Glad I did go in, there is a good exhibition on the Ulster Plantation down stairs that is well worth a look(although one of the screens were have some issues! there is info on how the walls were built as well.
upstairs are the council chambers and you can take a pic of you in the mayors seat.
most importantly its free

recently renovated to restore the impressive facade , it was the venue of an Exhibition on the Plantation of Ulster (worth seeing) when I visited . I was told by a tour guide it was also serving as the Tourist Information centre although I did not see much evidence of this .

the Cafe although small serves healthy snacks also pastries tea coffee etc and the cafe staff are helpful

When I visited on December 20 there was an informative display about the Ulster Plantation. The second floor has beautiful stained glass. I spent an hour there while waiting for my city wall tour.

Great exhibit in the hall, and beautiful architecture and stained glass. It takes a bit of time to read it all, but it is very informative. The upstairs hall and the council chambers are very nice.
