The Guildhall was recently renovated and updated, and now includes a museum-style exhibition space telling some of the history of Derry and the Guildhall. There is also tourist information available, and you can walk around the building freely. There is no admission charge. Would definitely recommend a look around!

The people here know their stuff and are very helpful and friendly. Stop in for a short visit to learn a lot about Irish and Derry history.

This magnificent building lies just outside Derry city walls. We were fortunate to visit on the first day it was open to the public after restoration work. The first area you visit tells of the history of the Ulster Plantation and how royalty and nobility got out of hand.
The first floor hall is magnificent with a large organ at one end and light floods in through fantastic stained glass windows that are to be found throughout the building

Great building to wander about if the rain catches you out as it did me! The Guildhall is free to enter and was hosting an extremely interesting exhibition about the Plantings on the ground floor when I was there. The building has recently re-opened and the magnificent concert organ - one of the finest in Europe - which fills the whole of one wall in the grand hall, is well worth a look. Interesting wood carvings and fantastic stained glass windows too, particularly the Coronation window series.
