“Stuch on a traffic island”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

Free Derry Corner was once a place- the corner of a building- a place where people lived and loved.
It is now isolated on a traffic roundabout and looks incongrous there.
It seems to lack atmosphere.

Murals of rememberance to the victims of Bloody Sunday make you catch your breath and bring a tear to your eye.

“Educational - Disturbing”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

Until we traveled to Ireland, I did not know that Northern Ireland is a separate country from the Republic of Ireland. Our visit to Derry, coupled with a guided tour from a local guide, and a walk through the Free Derry Corner (FDC) area, educated me on what happened in Derry forty years ago. The FDC area has many wall murals on the buildings, a monument to those who died, and descriptive signs which explain the murals.

All who visit Derry should visit the FDC for the history lessen.

“Powerful”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

A sign of all the history. Particularly poignant was the posted letter refusing to apologize for the killing of Seamus Bradley. Oh, what the power of an apology might do (and don't forget forgiveness...).

“A must see”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

This area is a must see to try to gain an understanding, if one can, of The Troubles. Fascinating to see the places we read about and saw on the TV news from the other side of the world.
