we stayed three nights in Arkle House in July.
I made the reservation directlly by e-mail with Terry and the tarrif was very reasonable.
the house is well located and has a beautiful garden, parking and a very convenient fully equiped separate kitchen only for the guests- a great plus if you have children!
the room was spacious and clean, the breakfast was very copious.
Terry and Sally, our hosts were very friendly and Terry gave us a lot of valuable information about touring the area.
I highly recommend this B&B for couples and families!

Ok - where to begin. We scheduled two nights at this B&B on our tour of Ireland. Directions to the house were nondescript and impossible to use, we were very thankful to have a GPS unit with us or we never would have made it. When we arrived the woman who met us was pre-occupied with something and acted as though we were intruding on her. She couldn't find the proper keys and kept asking how we were paying for the two nights (mind you we had already paid ahead of time). She then showed us our rooms which were in desperate need of a good cleaning. The floors hadn't been vacuumed, the bathroom had spider webs and spiders, the bed was really awful, and the grout in the bathroom was black. The only redeeming quality was breakfast which tasted good once you got past the grease. On our second morning while eating breakfast a couple who had rented a room the night before came in to complain that their key to the front door wouldn’t work and they were unable to get into the house. They were forced to find other arrangements for the night without any of their belongings. This is not my idea of a good place to stay.

This is a delightful, beautifully renovated Victorian guest house about 25 mins walk from Derry City. Close to the major road into Donegal but well shielded by tall trees making the place feel very peaceful and secluded. There is a supermarket, bar/restaurant ands other shops nearby. Leisure centre with swimming pool 5 mins walk. Proprietors were extremely friendly and helpful, and I can't think of a single negative thing to say about it!

We were a party of six touring Ireland. Stayed in Arkle House for one night so we could easily tour the Giants Causeway.
Not impressed at all compared to other warm and friendly Irsih stays. Definitely a busy family home. No place to sit except tiny guest kitchen. Kids usng yard and all downstairs rooms. Tiny bed room for o ne couple, huge bedrooms for other two couples.
Very basic amenities. Mould in the shower.Bath in sepate room - uninviting.
Breakfast okay. Did not feel a mote of Irish warmth.

We were in Derry for the Jazz festival which was also a surprise birthday trip for one of our party. Terry was in on the subterfuge and helped us ensure the surprise was complete. We picked his brains beforehand to ensure we ate at the best restaurants and he even gave us a lift into the city on our first night. That's what I call service! We felt very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. The house is lovely, the rooms are very comfortable and as for the Irish breakfast - we didn't need lunch! If Terry isn't giving you a lift (!) the taxi fare into the City is only £3 - £4. We had a wonderful weekend which was greatly enhanced by our host. We will be back!

Arkle House is a real find. The welcome and hospitality are legendary, the rooms clean and spacious, and Sally serves a great breakfast. There are lots of little extras not normally associated with a guesthouse like the mature gardens, the guest kitchen, free wifi, and the impromptu summer bbqs. Guests are genuinely made to feel at home, and without sounding clichéd, nothing is too much touble for your hosts. Thoroughly recommended.

Terry and Sally, the owners of Arkle house were the first people we have met in the area. They showed us their best hospitality. The hotel's location is nice, there are some shops and restaurants by the walking distance. There is also Ballymagroarty bus stop near by. The bus takes you to the city center every 30 mins. Location is very convenient. You can buy food at the Dunnes supermarket and cook it at the kitchen. Nice and cozy atmosphere of Arkle house make you feel comfortable. Free WiFi Internet is available, as well as computer for the guests.
