My wife and I did a self guided tour of Ireland for two weeks staying at various types of hotels / castles. We truly enjoyed our two nights at Beech Hill. We had a beautiful room, the whole staff was very friendly, and the grounds were great. I liked the fact that we had a cocktail before dinner in the lounge and also ordered our dinner while seated there enjoying our drinks. They told us that when our dinner was ready, they would then seat us in the dining room. Worked out great. I highly recommend Beech Hill for anyone looking for a great experience.

Room Tip: I believe the room number was #51. It is a one bedroom suite. Gorgeous

We have stayed in Manor House Hotels before, Manor House Enniskillen, Knockranny Westport, which were both beautiful and more 5* than 4*. Unfortunately the Beech Hill needs more than a lick of paint, it was more like a guest house than a 4* hotel, at the £125 a night it did not come up to stratch. The staff are lovely but unfortunately there are so few of them that they are always under pressure, we were at a wedding and it took them 3hrs to serve the luke warm meal, a real disappointment. The weather was fantastic but there was only two tables and about 10 chairs between 150 guests to sit outside. The morning after the wedding they could not cope with the numbers for breakfast, it was like Faulty Towers, they had to cook more food, get more cutlery, a 30min wait. Off course it was a wedding so no one was going to complain. It could be such a lovely place if only they could get their act together.

Room Tip: Don't get near the front, that's were the smokers go and it could be 2am before you get to s...

This is exactly what I expect when booking into a Manor House of this date in age! The front desk, Brenda was so very helpful and assisted us on our Genealogy quest. Seamus in the lunge/pub was a charmer...harboring the secret that he and his family are the owners of this lovely place, along with his sister, Patsy. Be sure to stop in their little museum. To our surprise it highlighted a young man from Dayton, Ohio...my husband's birthplace! It took them much time and money to honor these soldiers. Kudos! A place where U.S. president Clinton stayed on several occasions along with Sen. Kerry and Sen. T. Kennedy. Even has a "house cat" for me! We stayed in the "Original section". Right down to only having one skeleton key we had to leave each time we left. Charming...and the grounds matched! Breathtaking view from the Solarium breakfast room of the waterwheel and stream.

Unfortunarely we did not have a room that looked anything like the rooms advertised. It was freezing when we arrived and no heat had been turned on although they were expecting us. We were 'down stairs' with a view of a dirt mound from all three windows. The room was small, there were no towels initially provided until we asked, the bathroom was tiny and nwhere for towels to be laid out. With two suitcases in the room, on the floor, as nothing provided to sit them on, it was very 'cosy' moving around. Worst of all were the beds. I could feel every lump an dump and the pillows were just as bad. Others I am sure have had a much better experience but I was pretty disgusted as this is rated as a 4 star establishment. Avoid room 24!

We stayed a couple of nights in a junior suite. Furnishings were a little old fashioned but there was plenty of room with a separate lounge. The bed was vast and comfortable. The hotel is set in delightful grounds. The staff are really helpful and the whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant - the service was immaculate. We want to go back - perhaps the weather will be kinder next time!
